The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris will come to an end!

Hollywood Reporter announced that The Sookie Stackhouse series, from which the TV series True Blood was inspired will be coming to an end very soon. It will have a total of thirteen books!

I'm writing Book Twelve and then there will be Book Thirteen. And then I'll think of something else new and wonderful to do,” Harris told PopcornBiz.

Charlaine also specified that after book 13, it will be really over.

I don't go back to things once I've finished them,” she said. “I don't want to write Sookie after I get stale.”
Yeah, I'll miss them, I'm sure, because I have lived with them for quite a long time -- twelve years now,” she added. “But I think writers like to do different things. At least this writer does.”

It seems a lot of very popular series are coming to an end lately and while it’s really sad to see our favorite characters go, we’ll hopefully get to meet new and exciting ones!

What do you guys think of this news? Have you read all the Sookie books so far?
I’m still a bit late, have read the first eight books so far ^^

  1. I'm glad to hear this. I've just finished reading book 11 and was wondering when they were going to wrap up. I think you can tell they're getting to the end, but I can't really see how she can conclude everything in just two more books!

  2. I have truly loved this series, but it's time for it to come to a close. The last book was a disappointment for me and I'd rather see the series end with some semblance to it's former glory, than as shadow of itself.

  4. This is so sad! But with 11 books already I think we all expected this would happen soon. I'm going to miss Sookie but at least I still have two more books and True Blood ^-^ I am exited to see how Harris will end the series and what she'll do next.

  5. I am so glad it is ending. I love the series (don't like the show at all!) I think 13 is a good stopping point. I love reading series books but lately I'm getting burnt out on them. In fact lately I've been reading a bunch and then just buying as they come out and shelving them because I'm an impatient reader and I hate waiting 1-6 years (cough G.R.R.M) in between books.

  6. I'm right there with you Tynga, I've read the first 9. I'm glad it coming to an end, for me if a series goes too long (Anita Blake) then I loose interest in it.
It's also too easy for a series to go downhill if it goes on too long, however if Eric dies or Sookie doesn't end up with him in the last book I will not read it.

  7. I agree with the previous posters in that it's time for the series to end with a definitive finale. Too many series, IMHO, keep going long past the "expiration date" to the point the characters and plot are no longer recognizable or enjoyable, and I'd much rather a series go out on a strong note, than a crawling whimper.

  8. I've read the 3 first but I agree with her. 13 books is a quantity very reasonable for the characters. it comes a time that you could be tired of them.

  9. Hi
I've read all books so far, but the last two were not what they used to be, so I'm glad the series is coming to and end.

  10. I read this whole series, in a matter of a couple weeks and I have to say as much as I love it I agree I think she is doing right by ending it, Book 11 wasn't my favorite though it had good points. I am also interested in who will be her HEA I hope for a certain blond viking but I am doubtful that will be the case. :(

  11. Aww I'm always sad to hear when series come to an end! I haven't read this one, I guess sometimes it's better to end a series before it gets ruined right?

  12. I've read all but the latest book. I'm glad they're coming to an end because the books are already starting to go stale.

  13. I know it has to end sometime, but these books are a comfort read for me. I love slipping into Sookie's world and I will miss them.
