Tour: Death’s Hand by SM Reine + Giveaway

I’m really happy to have the chance to kick-start Sara book tour this morning! Sara is celebrating the release of the first book in her new Descent series, Death’s Hand. Here’s a bit more about the book!

Policing relations between Heaven, Hell, and Earth is messy and violent, but Elise Kavanagh and James Faulkner excelled at it—until coming across a job so brutal that even they couldn't stand to see one more dead body.

Now they've been pretending to be normal for five years, leaving their horrific history a dark secret. Elise works in an office. James owns a business. None of their friends realize they used to be one of the world's best killing teams.

After years of hiding, something stirs. Bodies are vanishing. Demons scurry in the shadows of the night. A child has been possessed.

Some enemies aren't willing to let the secrets of the past stay dead...

You can currently purchase (through November) Death’s Hand on kindle for only 0,99$!

The blurb didn’t convince you? Well maybe the trailer will ^^

Now Imma give the stage to Sara ^^ Please welcome her warmly!

Thanks so much for helping me kick off my tour, Tynga!

I’ve always been nuts for fantasy and science fiction. As a kid, I was jealous that it seemed to be the boys who got to become heroes, slay dragons, and save princesses. Why should I have to be the one getting saved? I wanted to be the knight in shining armor!

Of course, the idea of having a hunky guy save me isn’t so bad. There are many worse things than getting to swoon against a gorgeous set of pecs! But since I’d like to save him back once in awhile, too, so discovering urban fantasy in high school was a revelation. Here we had strapping heroes and strapping heroines, and saving goes both ways!

When I wrote Death’s Hand, my first urban fantasy novel, I knew I needed to write a team with a kick-butt heroine and hero so they could take turns... you know... kicking butt and taking names! So Death’s Hand is all about this team who possess equal skills in butt-kickery: Elise Kavanagh and James Faulkner, an exorcist and her warlock partner. They’re strong in different ways, and they complement each other perfectly (when one isn’t in the grips of some horrible demon).

These five pairs out of fantasy inspired me to tell Elise and James’s story more than any other.

Who are your favorite teams in the genre?

5. The Doctor and his Companions
Although they’re more science fiction than fantasy, you can’t beat The Doctor teaming up with his various Companions over the years. The enthusiasm with which they dive into danger is amazing, and I never get tired of them falling into peril.

4. Harry Dresden and Karrin Murphy
Who doesn’t love teaming up a powerful wizard with a police officer? Even though Dresden’s got the magic skills, Murphy’s got extensive martial arts training, and she more than holds her own.

3. Rachel and Ivy
No, they aren’t a female/male duo, but these two characters from The Hollows series are an incredible match. As roommates and friends, these two have dragged each other out of so many scrapes that I lost count ages ago!

2. Buffy and Giles
I’d like to see one urban fantasy writer who hasn’t been inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Giles was the temperance Buffy needed, and he was willing to do the dirty work she couldn’t (like when he killed human Glory). Neither one of them wouldn’t have survived long without the other.

1. Anita and Edward
The Anita Blake series was my first real foray into urban fantasy, and Edward is hands-down one of my favorite characters of all time. When these two are unleashed on a den full of vampires, things get ugly. They’ve even whipped out flame throwers. It just doesn’t get any cooler than that.

Thanks Sara for sharing your inspiration! Those pair are indeed amazing ^^

  2. I agree with the female butt kickery! I'm not a fan of women just sitting around getting rescued, but I wouldn't mind having to be saved by a dashing, tall dark and handsome man every once in a while.

Ps. Rachel/ Ivy and Edward/ Anita are some of my top favourite book characters :)

  5. I totally agree with you, I also love strong female heroines. Who kick ass. You picked a few of my favourites with Anita and Edward, Rachel and Ivy, and of course Buffy and Giles. But I think Cordelia cleaned up well in Angel. And those witches in Charmed are great, sometimes with a male helper (like Leo or other love interest).
And how about the team in Yasmine Galenorn Otherworld series? Totally love those books.

  6. Rachel and Ivy are fav's! All your teams are great though. I also can relate to the wanting to be the knight every now and then. I think that's one reason I started writing... much success Ms. Reine!

  8. Great list, I do love Harry and Murphy but I think my favourite team in the fantasy genre would be Kate Daniels and Curran (when they actually work together) from the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews.
