Azagoth by Larissa Ione

Azagoth has been Heaven's Starbuck for centuries and he has had enough. He won't 'fuck' anymore unwilling angels, he wants a mate of his own and he wants his potential kids to grow by his side. Quite reasonable right? But how do you go about meeting one's mate when you can't leave Sheoul-Gra? You blackmail Heaven of course! So that's how Lilianna found herself with a bad and a worst choice. She is being punished for a grave offense and was volunteered to be Azagoth's mate, or loose her time-travel abilities (which isn't an option). All of this happens in the first couple of pages and set the table for an amazing read!

I loved how Azagoth went to great extremes to make her welcome and comfortable, even though he has no idea how to go about it. He wants this relationship to work, and gives her time to assimilate everything. He is actually being quite sweet in his own grumpy, almost-evil ways. His struggles were really touching and I LOVED learning more about him. His troubled past, his mistakes, his secrets desires, all are revealed in good times and it was moving.

Lilianna is smart and desperate to make the best of this difficult situation, but she never imagined Azagoth would be that way. I admired her wits and her conscience. She wasn't damning Azagoth without seeing for herself, even though it would've been very easy, and she warms up to him in time.

The best part is the banter and teasing between the two. I loved how Lilianna wanted to annoy him, yet it would have the opposite effect on Azagoth. I loved how she made mistakes and is doing her best to make it up to him.

Really, my only complaint about this novella is exactly that, it's a novella! I really wished it was a full length novel! It's a great novella: there is enough character development and a good storyline, but I loved the characters so much that I wanted more. More details, more twists, just more! I couldn't get enough.

I definitely suggest you read this novella!

Revenant by Larissa Ione

What would you do if it turned out you were not the person you thought you were for the last 5,000 years? Of course none of us will ever know, with our short life-spawn and all, but Revenant now has to deal with a whole new set of memories, a completely new nature, and he doesn't quite know what do it with it all. There's one thing he knows though, he would do almost anything to have the sexy Blaspheme in his bed.

Revenant, 'officially' the last book in the Demonica & the Lords of Deliverance series, proved to be a very satisfying read. Larissa Ione always delivers sexy, addictive and full of action reads and this title is no exception.

I haven't been particularly fond of Revenant in the past books, but I have always been curious. I must say, you can now enroll me on the Revenant-fan-girls wagon. He is dark, sexy, without an once of remorse, but he has principles. Or should I say he has one principle? You can wreck havoc all you want, but don't break the rules and don't lie. It's kind of funny that he won't blink an eye when killing someone, but don't you dare throw garbage on the floor if it's against the rules. I thought it was quite endearing, and makes total sense when you get to know his past. I really enjoyed discovering his personality, and I must confessed a pitied him at times. It must be really hard to deal with his situation, but he did it with his head held high.

Blaspheme was just as great. I really liked her spunk and how she could argument with the best of them even though she was sometimes scared shitless inside. She was resourceful, compassionate and determinate.  I loved that despite her half-demon side she was driven to do the right thing and would sacrifice her own well-being to protect others.

I really liked the story and how all the characters we love made an appearance. Blaspheme and Revenant faced some very difficult situations and I enjoyed witnessing them thread carefully and try to reach the best possible outcome. All the loose ends are wrapped-up nicely and I was very satisfied - and surprised- with how everything ended.

Even though Revenant is officially the end of the series, Larissa hints at something more in this novel, and provides a link to find out more about what's to come. The LINK is suppose to work in December 2014. I can't wait to see what it will reveal!

The Demonica and the Lords of the Underworld series are simply awesome, and I would strongly suggest paranormal romance lovers to read it. I joined late in the game and I have no regrets! Give me more!

Bloodlust by Larissa Ione

I stumbled upon this novella by Larissa Ione long ago, and finally decided to read it. First, you need to know that this novella is classified as erotica (something I had not realized before diving in) and it's not part of the Demonica series, though I could see those characters fitting right in!

Bloodlust is a quick and steamy read that may ruffle your feathers a bit (sex slave, a bit for m/m action). I'm not usually a fan of the genre but I found myself engrossed from the first couple of lines and I have to confess, I wish there was more to the story!

Brynn found himself sold as a slave of war on the market and he is bought by the vampire Queen, Sorla, for her sole pleasure. I really wanted to know what is this war, how he got captured, what's his story? Also, I wish I knew more about Sorla's intentions and motives. She unexpectedly did Brynn a huge favor and I wonder how it came to be, and just what it would entail in the end.

The novella really ends on a cliff-hanger and I find it weird because as far as I know, there isn't a sequel nor another novella following that one, and since it's not part of a series, there's no way to know what happens next.

Bloodlust is a sexually charged story and I could totally picture it being part of a bigger paranormal romance series.  It's definitely worth your reading time, and it's free, so why not indulge?

Reaver by Larissa Ione

Reaver and Harvester have a long history together, more than either of them ever imagined. After falling purposefully from heaven to spy on Hell and protect the Horsemen, she was caught and have been tortured by Satan for months. Reaver is determined to save her, despite opposition from Heaven itself and his personal dislike of the fallen angel. She is the key to avoid the war between heaven and hell, but she might also know more about his forgotten past. But will he be able to save her, and live to tell the tale?

What an awesome story! I've been craving to know more about Reaver for a long time and I was not disappointed! I was also happily surprised by Harvester. I always appreciated her feisty spirit, but I was happy to discover more about the angel under the fallen shell and learn about the reasons behind her most dubious actions. Reaver delighted me with his determination and heroism, and even his now being a grand-father doesn't make him any less sexy or hot. The adult scenes between the two angels were intense and spicy, nothing angelic about the encounters at all!

The plot itself was addictive and highly entertaining. I was hooked to my kindle screen from the first chapter, all the way through the very end. Ione provided us with a text full of twist and turns, delivering suspense, actions and emotions, all wrapped in a pretty package. I'm telling you, I went through a crazy roller coaster of emotions, from being pissed to shedding a few tears, I've enjoyed it all.  I really loved learning about the five thousands years before their memory wipe and I appreciated the intricacy of the treachery both angels fell victim to.

The conclusion was surprising and emotional, and I NEVER would've guessed the specifics. Actually, I was so engrossed in the plot that I never actually stopped to try and guess how the book would end. I loved the details and how everything unfolded. I honestly couldn't have hoped for a better ending.

At the very end is the first chapter of the next novel and it will feature Revenant (the seoul watcher) and, I think, Blaspheme (a supposedly false angel). I don't know much about Blaspheme because I haven't read all of the Demonica series yet, but I am very curious about her. I really can't wait to get my hands on a copy, but I haven't found a tentative release date yet.

If you haven't read the Demonica or the Lords of Deliverance series I strongly suggest you do so! You don't have to read the Demonica series first, but the story takes place before the Lords, and share many secondary (who were mains in Demonica) characters, so it wouldn't be a bad move either. This whole new world by Larissa Ione is completely different from her previous series set in the Demonica world, and even though the vibe is very different, I loved it just as much. I can’t help but compare the two because her two previous series were set in the same huge rich world but this one felt a bit more contained (which isn’t a bad thing!). The story revolves around the MoonBound clan, which Riker is part of and their quest to retrieve a female vampire to avoid war with her original clan. All the action happens in Seattle and the surrounding woods and MoonBound is facing imminent war with a neighbourhood clan, and I feel like this somewhat intimate atmosphere will allow us to get to know each characters better.

Speaking of characters, miss Ione once again blessed with an amazing selection. Nicole and Riker are of course front and center and I loved them both. Yes at time I wanted to smack Riker on the head because he was being stupid, but hey, it’s always a good thing to feel emotional about characters! I loved their romance and how everything unfolded. Their issues and fights felt very vivid and plausible and I enjoyed it all. I also fell for Myne, a weird lonely vampire, Bastien, a rescued youth and Aylin, whom we meet at the very end. I must admit I am also fascinated with Hunter, the MoonBound clan’s leader.

The Lore Larissa created was particularly rich and fascinating. Vampires are rumoured to originate from a fight between two Native American leaders which ended up and their death and a subsequent fight between a raven and a crow. The details aren't very explicit, but again, it’s a rumour! Born vampires also have special abilities as opposed to turned vampires, which isn’t a first in vampire literature, but Larissa also brought her own twist to the table. There is also this great event surrounding the new moon, in links with very unique feeding practice that I thought brought a nice touch.

I was drawn into this new world right from the epilogue and the whole trip felt way to short, I confess, I wanted more. The plot is especially packed with action, sexual energy and a strong sense of urgency. A lot is at stake and the very future of MoonBound clans lay on Nicole and Riker’s shoulders. The tension was palpable most of the novel and I stayed on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I especially liked surprise curve ball Larissa Ione threw at us and the ending simply killed me. I can’t wait to see what’s next! My guess is that Hunter & Aylin will be featured and that a different MoonBound couple will be the star of each instalment.

I was highly satisfied with Bound By Night, the first novel in Larissa’s brand new series and I strongly suggest you give it a try. Paranormal Romance lovers will be please and fans of Ione won’t be disappointed!

Daring You To Read… Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione

I dared you the read Eternal Rider in the past, but I never dared you to read the original series, Demonica. And so this week, I am daring you to read Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione. This novel was her debut, but it doesn’t read like a first novel at all!

In this world, humanity doesn’t know about demons, but they have a somewhat flourishing life on the edge of the human world and the Aegis are very happy to try and kill them all. Pleasure Unbound is an action-packed paranormal romance, but fear not, the steam is also on the menu! Passion emanates from the pages in waves and sensuality is a whole part of the story, mostly because of Eidolon’s nature. It naturally flows with the story, enhancing the relationship between our two heroes.

I haven’t read the following books yet, (so many books, so little time) but I urge you to get your hands on this series. I mean who doesn’t like a sexy demon striving to be good?

Heaven needs him when to heavenly apocalypse will come to pass and Reaver’s actions will create tremors when his secret will be discovered.

I was super anxious to read this book, because I really wanted to meet Reseph, without Pestilence in control, and while I truly enjoyed this novel I wasn’t as enthusiastic about it as I thought I would be. The main reason is that in every previous novels, there was a bad guy to fight (Pestilence) thus a lot of action, but now that Reseph isn’t evil anymore, the treat is relatively under control and Rogue Rider isn’t as action packed. That’s my only complain.

Now onto the positive. I really enjoyed getting to know the man behind the evil, he is sweet and caring and I loved the way he treated Jillian. She is recovering from a demon attack, and nursing scars of her own and I think they are perfect for each other. Larrisa Ione did an amazing job describing Reseph amnesia and I thought his reactions and feelings toward his unknown past were very believable.

The action picked up when Reseph’s siblings learnt that he was still alive and kidnapped him to make sure Pestilence would stay under control. I loved how realistic Jillian and Reseph’s reaction was (if you ignore the paranormal element) when they struggled to be together after Reseph got his memory back. I truly felt for the both of them.

Aside from J & R story, there is a side plotline with Reaver and Harvester that truly fascinated me! At the end of the galley, Larissa announces that the fifth book is about Reaver (and I think Harvester) and I am beyond excited for this next instalment. I really came to love both angels, especially during this novel, and I can’t wait to learn more.

Rogue Rider’s conclusion was highly exciting and full of revelations and I'm convinced fans of the series won’t be disappointed.

Daring you to read… Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione

The Lords of Deliverance series is a spin-off to Larissa’s famous Demonica series and I strongly encourage you to give it a try. Right of the bat, you need to know that it’s not necessary to read the original series to pick-up the Lords series, in fact I hadn’t read Demonica and I had no trouble at all getting my bearing in Eternal Rider.

This series features the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and its original lore and amazing characters really got me hooked from the start. The first three books are already available, the fourth one releases this fall (my review will be up tomorrow!) and unexpectedly, a fifth book is due fall 2013 and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Whoever thought being one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse would be a fun ride would be right, according to Pestilence. If you ask his siblings though, they will have a whole different story to tell. As Ares fights alongside Thanatos & Limos to avoid breaking his seal and becoming War, simultaneously kick-starting the end of the world, he will discover a new side of himself as he stumbles into Cara, a human woman. Will she be his lighthouse or the cause of his & humanity’s downfall? Only time will tell.

What an amazing instalment by miss Ione! I was anxious to read this book since I read the previous one, because of they way it ended, and I was not disappointed in the least. I enjoyed every page! Thanatos has been cheated by Regan, a demon-slayer, and I enjoyed witnessing his reactions and decisions in this novel. This horseman has a killer temper, quite literally, and the treason he undergo is too important even for words to describe, to say the consequences are dire is to put it mildly. His brother and sister had to immobilize him with hellhound spit for months to keep him from retaliating and the moment he is freed, without his siblings knowledge, he is out for blood, Regan’s blood. Imagine his surprise though when he finds her pregnant… with his son.

The emotions were raw and real and I command Larissa for that. Thanatos was betrayed in the worst possible way, Regan regrets her actions, and both of them are struggling but have to work together to protect their son, but can’t agree on the path to follow. Conflict after conflict both of them faceoff, alternating between hate and lust, both unable to admit to love each other. It was truly amazing!

True to herself, Larissa Ione delivered an action-packed plot even though this book is classified as paranormal romance. But hey, I like my romance with some action and blood! Pestilence is still out there, wrecking havoc, and he is kicking up his pace. Nothing can stop him and he is determined to start the apocalypse, going as far as trying to kill Thanatos’ son. Regan’s pregnancy isn’t the easiest either, and having just given birth myself, I felt for her. One detail didn’t sit right with me though, at the end, after the baby is born, Regan is all worried because Thanatos won’t have sex with her within the first week, and she pretty much jumps his bones. I don’t know about you girls, but in the week after giving birth, sex wasn’t exactly on my mind… just sayin’!

The conclusion to Lethal Rider is down right amazing and I MUST read Rogue Rider NOW! God, I am even more excited for the next book than I was for this one. Good thing I have a copy waiting for me on my kindle! The wait would’ve killed me. I won’t tell you why I’m so excited, but if you’ve read the book, I’m sure you know why!

The Lords of Deliverance series is one I strongly recommend to paranormal romance lovers out there. You don’t need to read the Demonica series to read this spin-off series, I didn’t and I easily jumped right in. Sensual, original and action-packed, this series will please!

He doesn’t know it yet, but his decision to treat her or not will change the rest of his life.

I’ve read the first two books in the Lords of Deliverance series, a spin-off of the Demonica series and it felt awesome to finally know some of the characters I’ve met in their future life (does that make sense?). Pleasure Unbound happens a couple of years before Eternal Rider, the first book of the spin-off series and getting to know Eidolon better and understand what makes him tick was such a treat. Of course, he wasn’t the only character I had already met, his two brothers are also very important in this installment and I enjoyed seeing them!

Larissa Ione created an amazing world when she wrote her debut novel. It’s very complex because it’s so different but she handled it very well. Humanity doesn’t know about demons, but they have a somewhat flourishing life on the edge of the human world and the Aegis are very happy to try and kill them all. This first novel displayed in full force this ultimate battle of will when Ione pit Eidolon against Tayla. Their beliefs will clash while their attraction brings them together again and again. This love-hate relationship proved to be highly entertaining!

Passion emanates from the pages in waves and what I liked the most is that it never slowed the runaway train pace of the plot line. Sensuality is a whole part of the story, mostly because of Eidolon’s nature, and it never felt like it was weighting down the progression. It naturally flows with the story, enhancing the relationship between our two heroes. Pleasure Unbound might be a Paranormal Romance novel, but it wasn’t lacking in action and I enjoyed every heart-pounding second of it!

Pleasure Unbound was a delightful debut and I truly can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next installment, Desire Unchained. The Demonica world is full of surprises and is blessed with an extremely rich Lore. I would definitely recommend this series to Paranormal Lovers out there, I mean, who doesn’t like a sexy demon striving to be good?

The Four Horsemen –well three of them- managed saving Ares’ seal, thus avoiding kick-starting the apocalypse but they’re not out of trouble just yet. Limos’ and Thanatos’ are still very much in danger of breaking. Will they manage to avoid the worst?

Immortal Rider is the second book in the series and I enjoyed it even more than I did the first. I think the main reason is because there was less world-building necessary, allowing action and romance to shine brighter.

Limos has been my favorite Horseman from the start so I was really happy that this installment was mainly about her and her love interest, Arik. Their relationship is very high on the impossible-love-list with Limos being Satan’s bride and all, so the challenges were very intense, to say the least. Both of them also have their own troubled past, creating fireworks for the reader’s enjoyment. Thanatos also ended-up being a special treat for me. He let’s down his guard a bit with a human guardian and I really enjoyed discovering more of his personality. I can’t wait for him to have the spotlight!

Larissa Ione built a plotline to keep you on your toes the whole time. Between Pestillence’s pranks, Satan’s attempts to get hold of Limos, protecting the Horsemen’s seals, a wedding (!!!) and of course the steamy romance, there is no time to get bored at all.

The conclusion was a killer and the Horsemen will have to ride –pun intended- the shockwaves resulting from the metaphorical bomb dropped on their heads. The third book, Lethal Rider, promises to be an exciting one! 

I really like the Lords of Deliverance series and would definitely recommend it to urban fantasy and paranormal romance lovers.  I have the Demonica series at home and after reading Immortal Rider, I’m that much more anxious to get started on this series.

On December 1st, Immortal Rider, second book in the Lords of Deliverance series, hit the shelves and Larissa accepted to stop by to talk about it and her families’ Christmas festivities =)

1- Immortal Rider is the second book in the Lords of Deliverance series, was it hard to start a new series?

It was harder than I expected it to be, to be honest. I think it might have been easier to start a brand new series, but since the Lords of Deliverance is a spinoff, there was SO much background and backstory to cover. I think it might have overwhelmed readers as much as it did me in the first book. Fortunately, Eternal Rider really kicks into gear about halfway through, and the next books start off fast. But yeah, that first book was a killer!

2- What would you say is the biggest difference between this new series and your Demonica series?

I think the LOD series is darker and grittier. In the Demonica series, we were dealing with more individual scenarios, the Horsemen are dealing with global disaster that kicks off in Sin Undone. That means lots more adventure and darkness!

3- How did you decide that Limos, one of the Four Horsemen, would be a girl?

This is going to sound silly, but it's because "Famine" just sounds feminine! *g* I knew I wanted a female horseman...I just wasn't sure which one would be the girl. But as their personalities started to develop in my head, Famine/Limos just became perfect for the role!

4- What's your favorite scene from Immortal Rider? 

I love, love, love the scene between Arik, Decker, and Kynan in Arik's dorm apartment on the Army base. It was a lot of fun to write. The guys are good with each other. I also liked the "burger" scene with Arik and Limos. It was hard to write because it deals with a lot of emotions, but I love how it played out.

Now onto Xmas-y questions

5- What's a typical Christmas like in the Ione family?

Ah, fond memories! We always watched Christmas shows on Christmas Eve and then opened ONE present. The next morning, my brother and I would get up, open our Santa stuff, and then wait for the parents to get up to open the rest of our presents. Mom always made a special breakfast that we'd eat while opening gifts. Loved it! That's still how my husband and I do it today, unless we go to his parents' place for Christmas. They do everything Christmas Eve. I have to say, I don't like that. There's kind of no point to looking forward to Christmas morning.

6 - How is it different from when you were a kid?

I think the focus has shifted so that Christmas now is more about the family. I LOVE Christmas, but I love it more now for the traditions and the food, drink, family. I also love watching my son open his presents.

7- What could we offer Limos for Christmas?

She'd take anything as long as it's wrapped! She loves opening presents...but she'd be especially happy with jewelry!

8- If Santa could offer you anything, what would it be?

An offer from Hollywood for the rights to turn my books into movies! :)
