Hello my darlings! Today I have to chance to present you an interview I did with Lilith Saintcrow! She is the author of Dante Valentine Series, Jill Kismet Series, but today we will focus on her young adult series, Strange Angels. Would’ve had tons of questions to ask her, but I had to restrain myself for obvious time-related reasons, but here’s what we discussed!
How would you describe the Strange Angels series to a reader who haven't heard of it yet?
Vampire Hunter D meets Supernatural, with a girl hero, romantic tension, and lots of action. And hopefully a few good laughs along the way.
Here's a little selfish question lol, I'm quite fond of Christophe, will we see more of him in Jealousy?
Yes. Jealousy and Defiance (book 4 of the series) are both, in essence, Christophe's books. It's where we find out more about him, what makes him tick, where we see him interact with Dru a bit more. I always had it planned for us to find out plenty more about him, but we had to wait until Dru got to a certain place in the arc of events.
How many books are planned in that series (sorry if the info is written somewhere, I couldn't find it)?
There are five books planned. I am currently hard at work on the zero draft of book 5, and bringing everything together for the last epic battle. (This is probably the question I'm most asked lately; I'm trying to get to updating my FAQ to answer it.)
Are there plans for another YA series?
I do have plans for another YA series. Big plans, that involve a telekinetic with a smart mouth and a rage problem. It's going to be awesome.
You are writing both adult and young adult, where's the line for you between those two worlds?
Line? I don't know that there is a line. Kids are people too, and they deal with a lot of issues grownups do. The difference for me in writing YA is forcing myself to go back and remember what it was like when I wasn't an adult--when I didn't have a car or a bank account or a lot of power over my daily life, where I went OR what I did. There's an added problem in that when you're that young, a lot of the sense of proportion and "gray areas" most adults grow into is missing. So you're dealing with emotions that feel like the end of the world, because they're so fresh and raw. Everything feels do-or-die when you're fifteen.
I just love the Strange Angels covers, did you get any say in them?
I don't think many writers get any say in cover art. In my case it's probably a good thing, I'm dismal at visual art. But I did get to look at pictures of models for Dru, and I did pick the model I felt was closest to her physically out of them all. Other than that, I just get to see them when it's all decided. I do like the covers very much, I think the publisher's done a great job.
Let's discover a bit more about you =) 
If you had a choice, would you rather be a werewolf, vampire or dhampir?
That's a tough question, because really, I'm fine being human. I do feel like I have most in common with the werwulfen most days, just because of their emphasis on cooperation and consensus. Mostly the vampires and djamphir are ways for me to explore different issues. The idea of vampirism--and indeed, the idea of lycanthropy--really is just a way to talk about and explore things you wouldn't normally get to explore in the context of a story.
What's the weirdest thing you ever did?
You mean just one? I guess I'll just pick the most recent--I've lately grown pretty addicted to indoor rock climbing. When you think about it, it's a bit odd to rope yourself in and go up a simulated cliff. I tell people it's a survival skill for the zombie invasion, like the running.
Three things readers don't know about you?
Is there anything left people don't know about me? *laughs* I've had a blog for three or four years, so I feel pretty well documented. But I'll give it a try. Let's see...my favorite color is green, I put salt on pretty much all chocolate before I eat it, and I love the grace, precision, and predictability of a good ballet class.
What's the most important thing you want to accomplish?
I'm in the middle of raising two children, which is pretty much the most difficult and important job in the world. If I can make a reasonable job of raising them and continue to be their friend for the rest of my life, I'll have considered it accomplished.
If I were a genie here to grant you a wish, what would it be?
Seriously? I would wish that everyone had the chance to be a decent person every day, without poverty, anger, and fanaticism getting in the way. Oh, and more dancing. Dancing's great.

e and took off in a direction I wasn't planning for. It's heartening when characters do that, actually, because it means the work is taking on an organic shape of its own. It's behaving more like an organism than a disparate collection of parts, and that's a very good sign. That's when a book comes alive. 
ester; they'd probably have a great deal in common. Graves? Well, I have this mental image of him dating Willow from the early seasons of Buffy; but Christophe? I can't think of anyone. He's very definite about who and what he wants, and I can't imagine him any other way.
