I am really happy to have Jocelynn Drake, or should I say Danaus by my side today, to celebrate the release of Pray for Dawn (June 29th) and Wait for Dusk (July 27th).

Interview with Danaus
Good evening and welcome to another edition of Nightwalker Nightly, a hard-hitting news program dedicated to giving you the edge you need each night you step outside your door.
First off tonight, rumors have been confirmed that the door locking away the naturi from our world has been recently opened and Aurora, Queen of the naturi has escaped along with a large portion of the naturi horde. The Coven has been unavailable for comment as domain Keepers have been meeting long into the night with the Elders regarding the growing naturi nuisance. Fingers are currently being pointed at the Fire Starter, but no word yet has come as to whether the Coven will formally charge Mira with the failure to keep the naturi locked away. For the time being, nightwalkers are being advised to hunt in groups and be extremely cautious about checking victims before feeding to avoid costly mistakes of feeding off of naturi in hiding.
In other news, reports are coming out of Savannah that a new dangerous presence has been sensed in the region. This new creature appears to be unrelated to the naturi pest problem but is proving to be just as dangerous as several human deaths have turned up. Nightwalkers are being warned to stay away from Factors Walk for the time being until an full investigation can be conducted.
Moving on to tonight’s special guest, we have been given a rare opportunity to speak with Danaus. He is a member of the research group called Themis, which is based out of London, and has been recently seen traveling with Mira as she fights the naturi around the globe.
Interviewer: Danaus, could you tell our viewers a little bit about yourself? Exactly how old are you and where are you originally from?
Danaus: I am nearly 1,900 years old and was born in a small village a few hours ride outside of Rome in what is now Italy.
Interviewer: That’s a long time; longer than many of the Ancients that still exist. Have you fathered any children during that time frame?
Danaus: None that have ever been brought to my attention. In truth, I find it unlikely that I have any offspring. My bloodline will die with me.
Interviewer: And how long have you been with Themis?
Danaus: I joined the group about 300 years ago and have been an active member ever since. My main home has been in the London area. However, due to my extensive travel, I have stayed at other Themis branches around the world.
Interviewer: Now, Danaus, is it true that you are a nightwalker hunter and that this is your main occupation for Themis?
Danaus: Themis is research group dedicated to understanding other races such as vampires, shifters, and magic users.
Interviewer: Yes, but it is our understanding that you’re not a researcher.
Danaus: No, I’m not. I was formally trained as a solider many years ago. My job is to insure the peace and protect humanity from the other races in hopes of preserving the secret. At times, that has forced me to hunt down both vampires and lycans.
Interviewer: But isn’t your specialization in the hunting of nightwalkers?
Danaus: I wouldn’t call it a specialization, but I will admit that I have become very proficient at my job.
Interviewer: And yet the odd thing in all of this is that you have recently taken up with Mira, the Fire Starter. This well-known nightwalker is a proficient killer in her own right and yet you’ve made not move to remove her heart.
Interviewer: So you have tried to kill her?
Danaus: Of course.
Interviewer: That’s odd, considering that our sources reveal that you have actually been staying in Mira’s town house recently during the daylight hours.
Danaus: Things have grown more complicated during the past several months with the arrival of the naturi and other matters that have been occurring in Savannah. It has resulted in the need for Mira and I to work closely together.
Interviewer: You and Mira seem to work very well together by all reports. Do you think this teaming will become a permanent arrangement?
Danaus: As long as I am a member of Themis, I don’t expect it to.
Interviewer: And if you’re not with Themis?
Danaus: Anything is possible.
Interviewer: I would think that such a move would require you to become accustomed to the fact that Mira drinks blood to survive. Is that something that you think you could ever come to accept? I mean, that is the real reason you hunt nightwalkers after all.
Danaus: While I cannot say that I am comfortable with the fact, I will admit that I have come to accept Mira’s need for blood so long as it does not come at the cost of another creature’s life. Vampires don’t need to kill in order to survive and yet some kill for the pleasure of killing. Those are the nightwalkers that I hunt.
Interviewer: Looking back at your long life and considering all the lives that you’ve taken, do you have any regrets about how you’ve lived?
Danaus: The only regret I have is that I have lived at all.
Interviewer: Dark words from a dark figure. I’m afraid that’s all the time we have tonight. Tune in tomorrow night when we take a closer look at ways of protecting yourself against naturi attack as well as unique ways of protecting your daytime lair.
