Introducing Our New Reviewer!

A while ago, I posted a recruitment post, looking for someone to replace our dear Helen. She isn't leaving completely, but life is forcing her to take a part-time reviewer status, thus the need to find a new member! After much thought, and chat with many of the applicants, our choice settled on Jon!

We are convinced Jon's reviews will be right at home here on Team Tynga's Reviews and thought that the fact that he is a teenage boy will be an interesting touch!

Here's a little more about him:

My name is Jonathan, but I prefer to be called by Jon; personally if it was up to me, I wouldn’t have such a banal name. You just might know me as Scott Pilgrim, which is my blogger pseudonym that I used in the book blogging community for years. I’m a teenage guy who always has his nose in a book and I can be found fanboying about my obsessions (The Big Bang Theory, The Mortal Instruments, Doctor Who, Teen Wolf) on a daily basis. Besides reading and blogging, I am an aspiring YA author in the historical fiction and contemporary genres. My dream is to write a book that will leave an emotional impact on readers weeks after finishing. One day, I hope to travel to India, France, Japan, Italy, and Greece, but for now I’m content with traveling to Narnia, Hogwarts, and Idris. I’m not antagonistic that my Hogwarts acceptance letter never arrived, it was probably lost in the mail

Looking for a new reviewer!

I am very sad to announce that due to personal reasons, Helen is now stepping down to occasional reviewer (just like Lili currently is). I am very sad that she won`t be able to contribute regularly anymore, and I wish her to best in her personal life. What it means for Team Tynga's Reviews? We are opening recruitment once again.



You love paranormal and dystopian books? Would love to share your thoughts about and be part of a team of passionate reviewers? Well, you are at the right place!

The new reviewer must commit to:

• Post an original review once a week(may vary for tours etc..)


• Be involved in the blog’s general functioning and reply to comments

My criteria:

• Books reviewed must be of the Paranormal Genre (some dystopian and steampunk accepted).


• You must be 16 + (with parental permission if under 18)


• You don’t already have a blog of your own (negotiable)


• You must write fairly articulate reviews, and I’d like to see some you’ve previously written (amazon, goodreads and the likes)


• If you have a goodreads account, I’d like to see it.


• I’m not against negative reviews but I’m against bashing and disrespect. I reserve a veto vote on anything we publish.


• No plagiary tolerated.


• Must be able to use Wordpress and publish their posts according to the actual template.

What’s in it for you?

• A platform to express your thoughts on books


• Being part of a fairly successful blog (this includes your own About Me section, custom sig, wishlist, email addy etc…)


• Interaction with your favourite authors when planning events


• Possibility to sign up for tours


• A couple of free books along the line. I want it to be clear though, that reviewing for Team Tynga’s Reviews does not guaranty you a plethora of free books, it shouldn’t be your prime motivation.

Crudrat

I have some exciting news to share: Gail Carriger is (hopefully) coming out with a new YA sci fi project called Crudrat!

What is Crudrat, you might ask? According to the website and press release, Crudrat is an original full-cast audio production of an original story from the talented Ms. Carriger. The only catch? It doesn't exist yet. Chapter 1 is complete but Carriger and ArtisticWhispers Productions need to raise $7,000 through Kickstarter to make it happen.

Crudrat may not be the expected Carriger blend of steampunk, humour, and fantasy but it sounds really good and I'm definitely intrigued. Check out the blurb below, taken from the website:

Exciting News!

A while back, Jeaniene Frost announced there would be two books with Vlad and Leila (Vlad being a secondary character in her Night Huntress series and Night Huntress World novels). But what we didn’t know is that it’s not just two spin-off books part of the Night Huntress World novels.
It’ll be a spin-off SERIES!

Yes that’s right, Vlad is getting his own series *cheers*

Now, we don’t know the title of the first book yet, but what we do know is that it will release Spring 2012 if everything goes as planned, and the series name is… *drum rolls*…

Night Prince series!

Here’s Jeaniene’s explanation of the title:

Okay, why “Night Prince”? For one, the word “Night” will – hopefully – let readers know at a glance that these stories are set in the same world as my Night Huntress series and Night Huntress World novels. Second, contrary to the most popular fictional rendering of Vlad the Impaler, he was not a Count. He was essentially a Prince of Wallachia during his reign (Wallachia now being part of modern-day Romania). So there you have the Prince part of the series title.

First of all, here’s a news that will interest all ebooks lovers out there!

I found it on Tales of Whimsy, and here’s what she found out:

Have you heard or tried eBook Fling? According to PCMag.com, the site just launched today and they are calling themselves "the Netflix for books". It reminds me of Paperback Swap for eBooks. If you lend an eBook, you earn credits so you can borrow an eBook. Don't have any credits yet? They cost only $1.99. Check it out and if anyone has tried it, I am anxious to hear what you think.

 

Amazing right? I subscribed, but couldn’t try it just yet because my kindle is low batt right now lol, but let me know what you think if you tried it!
