Welcome to the very first Stacking The Shelves post!
Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!
In the light of the recent drama around the blogosphere I decided to leave In My Mailbox behind in favor of this new feature, and you can find out a bit more about it in my vlog, as well as the books I got this week, and my (hopefully) last belly update!

ReplyDeleteI participated -- here is my post. Good luck Tynga.
ReplyDelete:) I cannot wait to read Firelight, it's in my pile of books right now!
ReplyDeleteOh, let us hope that this is your last belly update (because really, who wants to drag on a pregnancy?!)! I agree, she must be far too comfy to leave. That might be a sign for her attitude in the coming years... You may have to physically kick her out of the house after highschool. LOL. :D
I hope you have a wonderful weekend--love this new meme!
Enjoy!
TBQ
TBQ's Book Palace
I'm suddenly seeing FIRELIGHT everywhere. I want to read it now. Also: I like this feature and your approach to it.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and great books. Sending you baby vibes :)
ReplyDeleteHi Tynga! It's so nice to meet you (and your belly, ha!) and I just became a follower of your blog. I'm so glad you are starting this feature and I want to participate, but I have a question. Could I, for example, rename it a bit, change the banner, and say that it was inspired by you? The reason is that I'm an eBook reader type of person, so when I was doing IMM I called it "On MyiPad" since it was more appropriate to the way I actually receive my books.
ReplyDeleteJJ, Red House Books has a meme called On My Reader that is all about what ebooks you got, if you want to check it out. http://redhousebooks.blogspot.ca/2012/04/on-my-reader-11-april-28-2012.html
DeleteThank so much for hosting this :)
ReplyDeleteLove the vlog and the belly update!
Good luck with the baby :)
My Stacking the Shelves post
LOL awe, such a cute vlog! Sending easy labour vibes to you for sure! and great haul everyone.
ReplyDeleteMy Stacking The Shelves
I think Stacking the Shelves is a great idea, I like the way you went about it and I'll definitely be checking it out every week, just like I have with your vlogs for quite some time. Hope the baby is born by now, or at least very soon. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLoving this new meme :) I'm like you, I love sharing the books I get and was disappointed about the whole drama.. Definitely participating as well! Mine will go up tomorrow once my "birthday weekend" is over.. lol..
ReplyDeleteI actually kinda like that there's no Mr Linky... I feel it gets a little competitive sometimes, so it's refreshing to discover links via comments! Lets you get to know the people a bit more :)
New follower!
And I'm back! With my link to this week's Stacking the Shelves :)
DeleteI loved kitty in the background of your blog.
ReplyDeleteSending you good thoughts and wishing you an easy delivery.
I'm sorry, I'm confused. Because you dislike plagiarism you decided to plagiarize someone's meme? You're taking someone else's meme, changing the name and passing it off as your own?
ReplyDeleteKristi did not create In My Mailbox. You can ask her yourself and she'll tell you she was "inspired" by another bloggers meme a long time ago and decided to do it herself.
DeleteShe may not have created it, but she did adapt it to what she wanted and credited the original blogger.
DeleteKristi didn't "create" the idea of sharing what you got with everyone. There actually are other "mailbox"-type memes as well.
DeleteEven if she adapted the idea I don't feel the need to credit her for something that was not hers originally.
DeleteSooooo... let me get this straight. It was wrong for Kristi to plagiarize a blog helping post that can be found in 6 million other places but it's okay for you to plagiarize IMM because other people have mailbox type posts? So either you're saying what Kristi did was okay, or that it's only okay if you do it. This is so unbelievably hypocritical.I don't know how anyone could justify it!
DeleteJust because Kristi has the most famously known mailbox meme out there it doesn't mean she created the concept. There are all kind of mailbox/haul post and vlogs for a lot of different subject such has beauty products, fashion, jewelry. Since there is so much interest, I do plan to do an official launch post and mention Kristi and Alea though.
DeleteI think this is a great idea, but I do think that TSS should be credited here, considering it's her meme retitled. I did participate, though: StS
ReplyDeleteI loved "Men of the Otherworld"! It was great to read the back stories of the male characters (Clay, Jeremy, etc). I hope you love it too!
ReplyDeleteThat was very sweet of Cindy to send you the baby goodies! So cute!
Oh awesome!! I need to get the Sookie book this week as well. Even though I've been let down a tad with the last few books, I'm keeping some faith that the series will end well!
ReplyDeleteMy book haul or whatever to call it now will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower :)
I've seen the "Men of the Otherworld" pop up a couple of time around blog-land in the last few weeks. I'll have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteHopefully all goes well with you and the baby :) Can't wait for updates once the little one arrives.
Have a great weekend.
Here is my post!! - http://www.stitchreadcook.com/2012/04/stacking-shelves-1.html
DeleteLove this new meme, thank you for offering us an alternative Tynga!
ReplyDeleteGreat post ladies! Love your books! <3
here's my post :) http://www.moonlightgleam.com/2012/04/stacking-shelves-1.html
DeleteAwwww that's so nice Tynga :) congratulations on your precious baby! Vlogging is such a great way of communicating and it's nice to meet fellow book bloggers with an obvious love of books . That was amazing .
ReplyDeleteHi Tynga. Love the name! I have been thinking carefully about what I want to do. I think it makes more sense for me to participate with you (supporting my fellow Canadian book bloggers!) but I wasn't planning on doing one this week at all so maybe I'll see next Saturday. I wish you luck with your baby and labour. 40 weeks. I hope you get to meet her soon :D
ReplyDeleteHi again Tynga. Seems I don't need another week of thinking about this afterall. I've decided not to participate in any IMM or similar meme anymore. Instead I'll include my new books in a post that is similar to monthly recaps on other blogs but with a focus on all things book related going on in my (personal) life. If you are curious about what I'm babbling about you can drop by my blog the first weekend of May. I will continue to look forward to reading/watching all IMM and STS posts on my friends book blogs.
DeleteI love your new meme, and I'll be following you here :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the rest of your pregnancy. I was over with both of mine, my first came at 42 weeks and my second at 41 and a half weeks. I chose not to be induced (that's a rough ride) and let they came when they wanted... it was bliss!! 4hours with my first, 30 minutes with my second, I nearly had him in my back garden lol!
I wasn't participating in IMM, but I'm doing this :)Best wishes for you and the baby, my kid was a lazy little guy who liked it too much in there!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming up with the awesome alternative! And great books this week. I took advantage of a couple deal from the Book Depository as well, and they arrived as I was putting my post together.
ReplyDeleteMy STS Post
Sara M
I did the same thing. I left IMM and am calling it something different. Good luck sweetie!!
DeleteTY TY TY so much for doing this Tynga and the best of luck and wishes for the upcoming arrival. I am spreading the word about this one and I will link back to you. Of course, I am going to do a new picture of my adorable dog on the shelves, but it will have your name all over it!
ReplyDeleteMaking the switch - not because of the drama (because I choose not to get involved with it), but switching as I love supporting my fellow Canadians! Thanks for bringing this new version of sharing our bookish love with everyone. AND I really hope that your little one is here soon (off to see if I've missed a post in which you mention she is here). ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
Here is my post!
DeleteI enjoyed Stacking the Shelves and hope you keep it up!
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the doctor's on Monday!!!
Here is my first stacking the shelves post for my YA blog!

ReplyDeleteGrace
Aww... Congratulations on the upcoming baby! I just had my baby girl in January.
ReplyDeleteI think Stacking the Shelves is an awesome idea! Here's my first post:
http://kksbookshelf.blogspot.com/2012/04/stacking-shelves-april-28-2012.html
Love this title as it works with books bought in stores, received as gifts, or even digital buys that go on virtual shelves. Here's my post (sorry found this after I had already posted for today, hence the url):

ReplyDeletehttp://teenagefeelin.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/stacking-shelves-1.html
Congrats on the baby Tynga!
ReplyDeleteI love the Stacking the Shelves meme. The name is perfect! IMM was getting a little stale for me so I'm happy to give this a try.
Here's my first Stacking the Shelves Post!
Uuum I'm WICKED excited chick!!!
ReplyDeleteI shall post mine tomorrow, and come back and watch your video!!! Love ya doll!
xoxo
Hey Tynga! You don't know how long I've waited for this post (saw the video on youtube; username is OCMiske btw) and now it's up! I'm glad something is fresh and so many people are following it which is EPIC! Trendsetter? I think so. Hope you and the baby are doing well! =D -goes off to post my Stacking the Shelves post-
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this meme! You all received some amazing books this week, many of which I have been wanting to read.
ReplyDeleteMy post is here: http://thebookscapereport.blogspot.com/2012/04/stacking-shelves-1.html
I'm so glad you started this. I was torn because I really wanted to showcase all my books, but I didn't want to do IMM for obvious reasons.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Post: http://abbeyannsbookland.blogspot.com/2012/04/stacking-shelves-1.html
Thanks for the alternative -- I'll be participating in this from now on!
ReplyDeleteHere's my StS post

~Paige @ Comfort Books
Thank you so much for the alternative! I feel like this one will be more laid back. It is so crazy over at the IMM, bloggers rushing to get their posts links. I feel like it's a competition or something, but Stacking the Shelves seems nice and simple.
ReplyDeleteMy STS Post
Mystifying Paranormal Reviews
Hi Tynga! I have been participating in the Mailbox Monday meme for a while, but I am glad to see one more alternative to IMM. I might switch over in the coming weeks though, I always like to support other Canadian bloggers, and I would probably prefer sharing my books on the weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteOh how I envy you your Deadlocked! I love Charlaine Harris! I, too, really appreciate the alternative to IMM.
ReplyDeleteMy post: Chronicles of a Book Evangelist
And, by the way, congratulations on your pregnancy. :)

And if you like to see what I got on my shelves you can visit me: http://me-andmybooks.blogspot.com/2012/04/stacking-shelves-is-new-meme-hosted-by.html
I like that you did this. I distanced myself, too, and think about how to reorganize everything. Maybe I'll participate next week as well, if that's okay! :)
ReplyDeletePatricia // My Week in Review
Planning to participate! I call my posts In My Book Bag because I am a teacher and my blog is focused on Classroom Use of YA fiction but I had been linking to TSS' IMM. However, not really comfortable linking to that blog anymore so I'm looking forward to Stacking the Shelves!

Thank you, Tynga, for starting this meme! And also thanks for pointing out all the books under $5 at TBD! Yippee! I will have to go shopping :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy all your new books and that you have the time to read before baby comes! Your belly bump is too cute, and I wish I had been watching your vlogs all along to see the progress. I hope by the time that you read this that you'll be holding your little one.

I would be in favour of having a Mister Linky so that it makes it easier to check out the posts from other bloggers.
Men of the Underworld, woot! Bitten, woot! I loved Blood Red Road. And I'm so looking forward to Deadlocked. Great job with Stacking the Shelves; I may be using it next week. Happy reading! And good luck with baby!
ReplyDeleteMy IMM
Thank you for offering this new alternative to In My Mailbox. I still haven't figured out what exactly I'm going to do, but I did decide to participate in this one! :) Oh, and please leave a Mr. Linky next time! This is such a cool initiative but it's a lot easier to visit other people's posts with a Mr. Linky!
ReplyDeleteMen of The Underworld looks like a great book. I love Kelley Armstrong, so may have to check that one out!
My Stacking The Shelves Post.
Much love to you for starting this meme! (& I echo others' comments about a Linky!)

You got some great books. I love Kelley Armstrong. My copy of Deadlocked has been pre-ordered and should arrive this week too. I like your new meme and plan to participate. I do two posts each week. I showcase my new YA and Middle Grade books at Ms. Martin Teaches Media. I spotlight new adult books at Inside of a Dog. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteAwesome book haul!!! Thanks for sharing with us. I personally am going to rob you of your Kelley Armstrong books, but whats a few books between friends???

This looks like fun! I will participate too and will have a blog post up later today.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of hosting this weekly meme! I will definitely be taking part in this next week. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree - I would love to see a Mr. Linky so we can easily visit others participating as well.
Congrats on your pregnancy, and I hope your labor goes smoothly and quickly. Enjoy your new little joy to pieces!!
I guess I've been non-existent this week on the blogosphere because I was completely unaware of the "drama" that occurred... so I did post a IMM post this morning. I hope you will check it out, and I will be back here next weekend to post my very first Stacking the Shelves post! :)

I didn't know Firelight by Kristen Callihan was a retelling, I'm going to check it out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this new meme. I was just reading about the drama and I decided to switch. I think I needed to refresh my blog too :)
Here is my post: http://oh-my-books.blogspot.com/2012/04/now-staking-shelves.html

Great haul!! I mentioned your feature in my post this week, 'cause I think it's pretty cool what everyone's doing, even if I'm not full-on boycotting (as defined by PJ!) I do hope this is your last belly update, too!! Nothing like those last few day!!!
ReplyDelete-Burgandy Ice
I loved A Temptation of Angels! Hope your labor and delivery go smoothly.

WTF Are You Reading?: WTF's In My Mailbox #1
This sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking to join a mailbox meme for a while, but The Story Siren's IMM meme has the stipulation that one must review YA books from time to time. I don't read YA books, but would still love to participate. Does your meme have that stipulation as well? If not, I'd love to join!
Thanks! :)

I will definitely be joining in this next week! Thanks for giving us an alternate to IMM. :)
ReplyDeleteBlood Red Road was so good! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Yay, so glad for the new meme! Hopefully I'll join next week because I didn't get much this week. :)
ReplyDeleteWill you put up a linky list for participants?
Great new meme :-) I didn't get much this week but I'm traking part anyway! See my solitary book
ReplyDeleteGreat new feature. I will be participating next week.
ReplyDeleteJust one suggestion if you don't mind, a links widget where we can post our STS links would be very useful.
Personally, I'm torn about what I want to do with to display my weekly haul. I LOVED the IMM theme, CREATED by Kristi but yes INSPIRED by another blogger. I'm considering joining Stacking the Shelves, it sounds awesome but I'm still trying to sort out what I want to do. I do think this meme should credit Kristi and IMM as inspiring this meme since it was created to replace it and serves the EXACT same purpose. I hope it's just an oversight for this week.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your pregnancy and enjoy your haul!
~ Jen @ A Book and a Latte
Fun haul of books and I loved the belly update! :) This is my first visit to the blog and I'm a new follower! I haven't heard of any of those but see that Jennifer got the newest Sookie book! I <3 Sookie and really want the whole set of books! Love them. Here's Our Week in Books @Libby Blog! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHey there,
ReplyDeleteDon't know why I wasn't following you before, but I am now :D
IMM always kinda scared me a bit--a bit too big for me, though I'm sure this meme's going to blow up in no time--probably already has lol. Some weeks I get the best book haul, so I decided to participate. Hope you have an easy, as painless as possible delivery.

Great meme, Tynga & Stephanie :-) I decided to do my own thing, but will definitely be checking in every week on my favorite people, you two included!
ReplyDeleteI just bought A Temptation of Angels a week or two ago, and cannot wait to read it. Michelle Zink is absolutely amazing and gives the best hugs :-) I _love_ that you bought Deadlocked. I need to buy it SOON!

ReplyDeleteBlood Red Road is awesome and I love Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series.
