Today, I'm daring you to read a really great book: STORMWALKER by Allyson James. It's the first book in the Stormwalker series, a paranormal romance series set in Arizona. The series revolves around Janet Begay, a Navajo woman who draws power from the earth and also from the Beneath, thanks to her mixed heritage. The Beneath power is bad news -- it comes from her mother, a goddess who wants Janet to open the vortex so that she can be free -- while Janet's Stormwalker abilities come from the other side of her family. Janet does her best to resist her mother and deal with all of the other stuff going on in her life, including her romantic entanglement with Mick (who's got some interesting gifts of his own), getting her hotel up and running, and and some run-ins with a slew of characters with hidden motives. And things get even more complicated in subsequent stories!!
The STORMWALKER books are sexy and fun, as long as you're not Janet. The world building is really special and it left me dying for more information about Janet's heritage and what it means for her abilities and her relationships. Allyson James has created an amazing cast of characters and dropped them into a very unique world. If you love books with strong plots and steamy romance, this is the series for you!
Here's the scoop on STORMWALKER:
Half-Navajo Janet Begay possesses extraordinary power which is tied to the storms that waft across the desert. The only person who can control her when she's caught in the storm's evocative power is Mick, a dark-haired, blue-eyed biker Janet can't seem to touch with her powers. He can wield fire and not get burned, and Janet's never sure where he goes when they're not together.
Together they investigate mysterious disappearances, which Janet fears are tied to her mother's people, the mythical gods from below the earth. They are helped along the way by Coyote and Crow, but these shapeshifting gods have their own agendas.

I second this nomination. This series is awesome and a lot of fun. I love the exploration and mash of native american and other magics and mythology. I recommend this series all the time :)
