Mercy Thompson series gets a new look!

Orbit announced Mercy would get a new look and I’ll let you take a look before I give you my opinion *g*

Personally, I prefer the original covers by far. I like the original concept, the colors. The series really stood-out and the cover were meaningful. Now it looks just like your next Urban Fantasy novel. The new covers are pretty, but can’t beat the original for me!

What do you guys think?

    I agree that the original ones are better. The last 2 are my favorite.

    Definitely like the original ones better. They show Mercy's Native American side better. And the tattoos are definitely better are on the old ones too.

    I like the look of the new covers. But this seems to be a new theme that's circulating, (dark look, bright flash of color).

    The original artwork stands out and is beautiful. Plus, you get a better sense of what the book is about.

    Are you sure that these are the Canadian/American ones because on the back copy of this River Marked it has the UK price? Maybe these are for the UK

    @Just_Me37 You might be right, I found the info on Orbitbooks.net but there's a label for Orbit Uk and Orbit Australia at the end of the post.

    Seriously? It's hard to top Dan Dos Santos' work. And the Mercy books are some of his best work. :)

    The original covers are so beautiful that I hope that Just_Me37 is right -- that they're not for North American release. At least the content will be as awesome as always. :)

    Agree, I actually didn't realize that I had read some of these books until I saw the oringinal covers. I'm really bad with remembering names, but I always remember the covers. I actually liked the new ones until I saw the oringals, The originals are perfect for the stories told.

    The originals are just soooo much prettier and original and true to the feel of the books! These new ones look just like any other UF book on the market, and I wouldn't look at them twice in a bookstore. :( This makes me sad because I loved the books of the series I have read so far a lot.

    LOl it seems I am in the minority, but I vehemently hated the original ones, taht is why I didn't buy the series for a long time, because I disliked them so much. Then when I saw the UK covers, which I love the most between the 3, I even payed more just to have it in that edition. But I definitely prefer these new ones to the originals..

    The new ones are so generic they could be used for any sort of paranormal, urban fantasy, suspense book.

    I greatly prefer the original. I would would be unlikely to pick up one of the books with the new look if I had not already gotten into the series.

    No comparison! I love the old ones-- you're right, these just look like every other urban fantasy. Wonder if they are just trying to reach a new audience?

    I recognize I don't like not even a little. I prefer the originals. Besides, the colors are not so strong. I think it was a bad idea to change the covers :(
