Redemption Alley is the third book in the Jill Kismet series and overall I enjoyed it. Jill is a hunter and enhanced human being. What do I mean by that? She stroke a deal with a hellbreed (demon) and has a mark on her wrist giving her more strength, speed and better healing abilities. All of which is pretty useful when you spend day and night fighting things that goes bump in the night. This time around, Jill has two main affairs on her hands: Investigating a cop suicide that turned out to be a murder and an out of ordinary scurf invasion (it’s pretty much mutating/decomposing humans/zombies for lack of a better description…).
As mentioned above, I overall enjoyed to book but I have three minor complaints. First, she almost-dies one to many times for my own taste. I mean we get it, the girl is tough, so there’s no need to almost kill her so many times. But hey that’s just my opinion =P Second, Jill had a boyfriend in the second book: Saul, and even though she thinks about him many times, and talks to him on the phone once or twice, he isn’t in the third book, and I loved the guy so I’m kinda disappointed. And last, is a personal opinion really but she changes side-kicks three times in the book, and I have to say it bothered me a bit.
Now onto the positive! Jill is a tough girl and she dives in head first into whatever you throw at her. She finds herself in a serious mess but always try to get the best out of it and I appreciated that. She also has a very awkward and dry sense of humor adding some originality.
Lilith Saintcrow’s writing is very unique and adds an edge to all of her stories. The tone and pace is very different from all other authors I’ve read so kudos for that. She also has a talent about keeping us in the dark. The Jill Kismet series is UF yes, but it’s always built on a mystery/ murder investigation and whatnot and the tension is running high and you never know what to expect. You think you figured out the whole thing? WRONG! Try again!
Redemption Alley was action-packed, mysterious and I’ll say explosive (you’ll know what I mean when reading the book ^^). If you like a good suspense wrapped in an Urban Fantasy world this series is definitely for you!

With so many great UF series out there, this is one I haven't read yet, but your review makes me want to give it a try. Zombies and their likes are always fun!
