“ For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment. But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.” –Book Cover
Nora is a normal teenager, she’s working hard at school to obtain a scholarship, and is enjoying herself with her best friend Vee. Everything will change when one random morning, Coach, the biology teacher, decided the change the seats chart and Nora ends up with Patch. New student, dark and mysterious Patch. From that exact moment, everything goes downhill. Nora has these creepy feelings of being stalked all the time, and Patch is hunting all her thoughts. She knows he is hiding something, she knows she should stay away from him: he seems so dangerous, but she can’t help herself. She needs to know more. Will curiosity kill the cat?
I love, Love, LOVE this book. Shame on me it’s been sitting on my to-be-read shelf for so long. Becca created in her debut novel a fantastic world where Bible myths collides with the modern society. Hush, hush is a tale full of mystery and suspense I guaranty you won’t be able to put down!
One of the strongest point of this book is the Characters. Nora seems to be an average girl, lives with her mom who seems to be away more than at home, her dad passed away not so long ago and she doing her best to keep everything afloat. I think Patch as the best description of her: “Intelligent. Attractive. Vulnerable.” Nora had never been interested in boys and she’s really confused in this whole new situation. Not only can’t she figure out what are her feelings for Patch, but Eliott, a new transfer, is also messing the cards trying to seduce her. Becca really managed to make the reader feel Nora’s confusion and it’s the key of this story. Where lies the truth? Who should she trust?
Patch is beyond awesome. Bad boy to the bones, cryptical and obscure. The perfect teenage girl fantasy. But will you be burnt if you get to close? He seems so perfectly confidant and in control, but is he really? You’ll have to jump on the Hush, hush wagon to find out, and you won’t be disappointed!
I really liked the mythology Becca used in her book, and how everything unfolds near the end. She keeps you in the dark for so long, and even though you have a vague idea of what’s going on it was nice to finally discover what it’s all about.
The end was great, there are so many suspects as to who’s following Nora, who might kill her, that it’s hard to put your finger on a culprit. I had guessed before the hand who was guilty, but it could have been anyone really. “The final battle” if I may call it that way, was fantastic. Fast-paced, full of adrenaline and surprises.
If you haven’t read that book yet, you really have to. It has everything young and not-so-young readers are looking for in a Young Adult novel. Romance, Action, Mystery and a Sexy Male Character *winks*.
