Not book related–but could save a life

I don’t know if you’ve stumble across this campaign yet but I urge you to watch this video. It’s hard to watch, it got me crying, but if it helps save even a single life, please spread the word.

I beg you to never, EVER, leave a child unattended in the car, even if you’re just paying for gas (you never know when someone could try and steel your car).  If you are a passer-by, please DO SOMETHING. Never leave a child alone in the car. Alert the police, the store or break the windows, but for the love of god, don’t leave them there. If you watch the video ‘til the end, you see that in US alone, every 10 days a child dies in a car (575 since 1998), and 15 already died this year. Help prevent anymore deaths.

Thank you!

  1. Wow! I hesitate to leave my dog in the car; I can't imagine leaving a child! I think people hesitate to act when they see something like this because we have a culture that too often punishes people for getting involved. I mean, how often do we hear that someone (perhaps that last man in the video for example) was sued for property damage when they were trying to help? Or was shot? It's sad, but I hope that wouldn't stop too many people from trying to save a life! Thanks for sharing!

  2. That is truly heart wrenching and quite disturbing. If the first lady that stopped at the car had called the police, at the very least, the child would have stood a better chance. Besides it being a danger to the child, it is also illegal to leave a child unattended. Even if it wasn't a hot day, don't parents think it's possible to come out only to find their car and/or child gone. Car theft and kidnappings are on the news often enough for it to be a deterrent.

  3. I am so not going to watch, but the same applies for pets of course, in the summer heat. A car heats up very fast.

  4. Aw so sad. It's one of those things people think, oh it will be fine for a second, and then tragedy happens.
