Blurred by Tara Fuller

The first book in this series, Inbetween, was the very first book that I was given for review. So obviously, when I had the opportunity to review Blurred, I was beyond excited! Blurred expands upon the storyline of Cash and Anaya, both of whom were side characters from Inbetween. I enjoyed Cash's character so much in the first book, and getting a chance to know him better in Blurred was such a great experience. We also get to see a few glimpses into what's happening with Finn and Emma as well.

In Blurred, Cash is in an expired body. He's dying from the inside out. And there's nothing that can be done to stop it. Anaya is the reaper that is responsible for keeping him here on earth past when his soul was ready to move on. She's been given orders to keep his soul in his body and ultimately deliver him to Balthezar when he gives the order. Even though she's not sure her boss's reasons for wanting Cash to himself are on the up and up, she'll do anything to be reunited in heaven with her love, Tarik.

Everyone knows that there's something different about Cash's soul. He shouldn't still be alive in an expired body, but his soul is hanging on. He's suddenly able to force souls into corporeality and to cross the boundaries between Heaven, Hell, and the Inbetween. And both sides are interested in using that to their advantage. But when an unknown stranger starts recruiting Cash as well, he has to decide who is truly telling the truth, and who has been lying to him the whole time. But his time is running out. His body will expire, and soon. And the shadow demons that have been hunting him are just waiting to devour his soul.

The characters in Blurred were vivid and the plotting definitely kept me turning pages as quickly as I could. This series does suffer from a twinge of insta-love. I had the same issues when reading about Finn and Emma in Inbetween, and was hoping that the relationship in Blurred would develop more organically, but unfortunately it was more of the same. Though I fell in love with the characters, there really isn't much relationship building that we're able to participate in. With all that said, I felt that the story line and the mystery surrounding the characters was more than enough to compensate for that.

  2. I enjoyed Inbetween, and I like that this one is about Cash and Anaya, they were such great secondary characters in the first book, and especially with how things ended, I would be interested to know more about Cash. It's good to hear that you still get glimpses of Emma and Finn because I don't think their story is completely over yet either. Great review!

  3. I dare say I liked this book even better than Inbetween - I just love Cash! The Emma/Finn glimpses weren't all that plentiful, and it was a bit heavy handed, but it was no problem at all because everything else was AWESOME!
