When I’m not writing… with Ann Aguirre & Giveaway

To celebrate the release for the fourth book in the Jax Series, Killbox, Ann Aguirre stopped by to share with us a bit of her private life =) National bestselling author, she has many great series under her belt and I’m very honored to have her on the blog today!

Honestly, this isn't often. With a schedule like mine and deadlines to meet, I seem always to be drafting a book, revising or editing one. However, I do my best to safeguard weekends off, so I can enjoy some leisure time, and that's what I'll focus on for the purposes of this post, those two glorious days a week when I'm not working fourteen hours or obsessing over my career. Yes, I do that. A lot. In myriad, neurotic ways.

So. Weekends. I don't have a universal routine. Sometimes I get up and make pancakes. Sometimes we go out for brunch, but not too often, as I have the family on a healthy eating kick, and I can best manage what goes into our food if I make it myself.

Occasionally we have guests... this past Saturday, a cousin who lives in Paris spent the day with us, and that was delightful. We talked all day and then cooked supper together in the evening. Sylvia is great company. I also signed books for her, which is not something I ordinarily get to do in Mexico but she is accomplished and speaks four languages. I was sad to see her leave, and our conversation was funny because we were all slipping between English and Spanish, and she would sometimes lapse into French as well. It was a lovely day.

Most often, I fall into a video game, usually one I've played before, so I don't have to do any hardcore thinking. I shoot zombies or slay dragons, and I'm familiar with the story / characters, so it's like hanging out with a familiar friend. My brain dearly needs this fallow time where I am not using it for much of anything or I could never keep up with my work schedule.

theatre Sundays tend to be movie days (if there's anything we want to see out), so we'll all head over to Gallerias Atizapan . We use the VIP salons shown on the left, and that's pretty awesome. You pay a bit more for the ticket but you watch the film in a leather recliner, and there are waiters who come to serve your drinks and snacks. I'm a bit spoiled to that at this point.

Sometimes there are parties to attend on the weekends, and sometimes the kids have social functions that we have to take them to. In truth, Andres and I are happy to stay home and be reclusive. In my ideal weekend, I would have endless time to read and play video games. Movies, music, games, and books comprise my chief interests, I must confess. I'm a geek at heart, and always will be.

TALK IS CHEAP WHEN LIVES ARE IN JEOPARDY

Sirantha Jax is a “Jumper,” a woman who possesses the unique genetic makeup needed to navigate faster than light ships through grimspace. With no tolerance for political diplomacy, she quits her ambassador post so she can get back to saving the universe the way she does best—by mouthing off and kicking butt.

And her tactics are needed more than ever. Flesh-eating aliens are attacking stations on the outskirts of space, and for many people, the Conglomerate’s forces are arriving too late to serve and protect them.

Now, Jax must take matters into her own hands by recruiting a militia to defend the frontiers—out of the worst criminals, mercenaries, and raiders that ever traveled through grimspace…

Someone explain to me why only a handful of these books ever gets translated into Greek?

I buy them all in English but it would have been awesome if this genre became HUGE in my country as well! Everyone should know the awesomeness!!! XDD

Thanks for this! I appreciate it. :)
