In My Mailbox

In My Mailbox
Before getting to serious business, I would like to thank The Story Siren for hosting In My Mailbox every weeks =)

Well this week I didn’t do a vlog, because I received the impressive amount of *drum rolls* zero books this week lol I was hoping day after day that the mailman would bring one for me, but no such luck.

But I did get something that tops any book I could possibly have received..

I got…

..

.

That’s right! I am getting married!

I was engaged since the end of June (my fiancé and I have been together for almost 7 years now) but I didn’t have a ring yet. And now Here it is! Isn’t totally gorgeous? I just can’t stop looking at it lol

And for the curious ones, I’m getting married on May 28th, 2011.

  9. Congratulations Tynga - that is a beautiful ring. I hope we get to see it put together (wedding band and engagement ring) It is very unique.

My question: Will it be a paranormal themed reception/event? Do we get to throw you a "cyber" bridal shower? ! Please say yes - you would be the first to have one!!!!!

  10. Thanks every for the congrats and the good wishes!

infertility goddess: I will post pictures of the ring together after the wedding ^^ As I am currently wearing the engagement ring only.

And a Paranormal Cyber bridal shower is a good idea, but I don't think I would have time to orgazine the wedding and a cyber party at same time lol

  12. @Mary - Thank you! I'm already stressed though =/ It is a lot more expensive then I thought, so I'm trying to find less pricy avenues while still having a nice wedding ^^

  15. Congrats! Those are lovely rings.

My husband and I hate weddings so when we decided we'd have one we made sure it was done OUR way. We got married at Thomson House (at McGill) and we had dogs in the wedding (my Annie was flower girl and her brother Dan came up from Memphis to carry our rings). We had a friend officiate the wedding and it was brilliant. We had the reception at the Maritime Hotel on Guy (corner Rene Levesque) and did our own music and had a piper. We had a lot of fun! I was even going to make my cupcake tree myself (back before cupcakes were the Thing) but my friends gave me the cake for my bridal shower (well told me they were paying to order it so I didn't have to make 120 cupcakes ;)).

Try not to let it stress you. Have fun with it because after all it's your day - you and your soon-to-be husband. It is not anyone else's day!

  21. Cat - We are gonna get married at L'ile des Moulins at Terrebonne, but what's causing me headache right now is the Reception, we gonna visit a place at Laval next week end. Could I email you? I'm curious as of the price range for this hotel you went, it looks lovely!

And thank you very much everyone <3 I'll keep you updated as I make progress hehe!

  27. First, congratulations! This is amazing news! The ring is beautiful and I'm sure you'll have a beautiful wedding day! <3

I went to a wedding at L'Ile des Moulins a couple years ago and the reception was in a restaurant just across the street. It had a nice look and I remember it was affordable enough. I can't remember the name of the restaurant right now, but I know I have it down somewhere as it was one of the place we looked into when we planned our almost-wedding (my mother and grand-mother both got sicked and we decided to wait a little.) But our budget was quite limited, too, and it was one of the options we considered since it was both pretty and affordable.

Anyway, I wish you the best with the organisation! I know it's a lot of work but take the time to consider every option. Wedding stuff is often overpriced in my opinion, and there are plenty of alternatives for flowers, invitations cards, cake, etc. that are cheaper and as pretty. If you have some time, you can work on doing some yourselves with the help of friends and family. It's a fun way to get ready for the big day! :) (and wow, I talk a lot!)

  28. Congrats! That's such exciting news!

I just got married at the end of last year, planning the wedding was really fun and the wedding itself goes by faster than you'd think!

  29. Congrats!

They are gorgeous! It looks like they interlock. I'd love to see them together! :)

  30. Kay - I would love if you could get me the name of that restaurant! I found one online, but it was all seafood, and I don't like seafood =/

I think I'll be doing the invites with my mom, I'll hit Omer de Serres and work out something. Put those artistic talents of mine at work lol

And my friend's sister might be doing our wedding cake for a much more affordable price =)
