Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's alone in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.
When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.
Nevermore by Kelly Creagh
Release date: August 31st, 2010
Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.
Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.
As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.
His life depends on it.

So many great books on this list! I can't wait to read them! :)
ReplyDeleteRead Halo, have The Iron Daughter, just bought Almost to Die For and excited for Paranormalcy release.
ReplyDeleteKiss Me Deadly, Death's Excellent Vacation and Paranormalcy are all books that I'm interested in. There's a lot of good books coming out!
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of them are on my wishlist!
ReplyDeleteSo many great books and not enough time to read them all.
ReplyDeleteA looooot of those books are on my Musy Buy books, especially Paranmormalcy and Nevermore.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when the winner of your Iron King contest will be announced?
It will be announced on Friday
ReplyDeletegreat books! I can't wait to read them.
ReplyDeleteps. Check out my blog for an award: http://yabooknerd.blogspot.com/2010/08/blog-award.html
Can I make a suggestion, Tynga? :) Have you thought of releasing these books once you have read them? Many of us members of Bookmooch are keen to read them but due to circumstances (lack of cash, the books not available in our home countries or other reasons) we can not get hold of them.
ReplyDeleteI just added Halo on my wishlist in Bookmooch and noticed there are other 28 people! who have it as well in theirs.
http://www.bookmooch.com
Armchair Traveler - Well these are books to be released during the month, not necessairly books I own (I onw 4 of them, 2 of which are ARCs not finished copy), and I am a member of BookMooch already, but I honestly can't afford to mail them.
ReplyDeleteMailing a single book from canada cost 7-10 within North America. This is the prize of a brand new book, with shipping included from bookdepository.
So bookmooch might be interesting for countries where postal services aren't too expensive. But for Canada resident, it's unfortunately not worth.
Also, I'm a book collector, so if I like it, I keep it =)
I'm really excited for Halo and Nevermore!
ReplyDeleteThere's just too many books coming out in August that I want, fortunately I'll be able to get most with my birthday money! :P On this list, there's Halo, Nevermore, Clockwork Angel and Paranormalcy that I absolutely want, and Kiss me Deadly and Almost to Die For eventually, too. And The Hunger Games's third book is finally coming out too. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteAnd I completely agree with your comment after, shipping books in Canada is absolutely not worth it. It's SO expensive! :(
