“Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong…
After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa Dragomir. It’s graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives outside of the Academy’s cold iron gates to finally begin. But even wit the intrigue and excitement of court life looming, Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri. He's out there, somewhere.
She failed to kill him when she had the chance, and now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won't join him, he won't rest until he's silenced her...forever.But Rose can’t forget what she learned on her journey- whispers of a magic too impossible and terrifying to comprehend. A magic inextricably tied to Lissa that could hold the answer to all of Rose’s prayers, but not without devastating consequences. Now Rose will have to decide want – and who – matters most to her. And in the end, is true love really worth the price?” –Book Cover
I find it very challenging to review this book because it was good in so many ways that can’t be explained without spoilers. But worry not, this review is Spirit Bound Spoilers Free. I will do my best to express you the passion I felt reading this book, but I’m afraid it’s beyond what words can explain.
Spirit Bound starts back at the Academy, it’s finally graduation time and Rose has only one more challenge in front of her: The Trials. A final exam planned by guardians to test their ability to protect Moroi “in the real world”. But what worries Rose the most is the after-graduation. She always thought it rimed with freedom but reality hit her in the face. She will spend her life protecting Moroi and her own desires won’t matter anymore. There’s not only the weight of responsibilities though, she knows Dimitri is out there, lurking in shadows, waiting for an opportunity to kill her.
In this installment, Rose is more determined than ever and will use extremely illegal ways to reach her objectives. Desperation to save Dimitri, while she still can, drives her actions and consequences won’t be light. She is not risking only her future and her life but also the ones of people she loves.
When we love a book, we all say “I couldn’t put it down”, well in this case, I loved the book so much I HAD to put it down and take deep breaths because it was just too much. Love, Passion, Treason, Fear, Sadness, Grief, all these emotions laid on paper in a so intense way it almost became unbearable. At times I couldn’t believe my own eyes, events happening in that book triggered reactions in me that are beyond words!
I really love both Rose and Lissa for their very distinct qualities, and even though they are very different, they have one thing in common: they would do anything for each other.
Adrian is as snarky as ever but we get to discover a new side to him. I really like the guy and it’s clear he cares about Rose and I loved to watch them together.
Dimitri, oh Dimitri! He broke my heart in Blood Promise and Spirit Bound wasn’t any easier. At times I really felt like hitting him in the head to knock some sense into him and even though I would have a lot to say, I won’t spill the beans and ruin surprises. I will mention though that chapters 20 and 24 nearly killed me.
I was glad that Abe was in SB, he didn’t play a major role but it was nice to have him around and I think he will have a bigger role in The Last Sacrifice.
The end is as usual a cliff hanger, if suspense could kill Richelle Mead would be in danger of trial for massive murder, because I really don’t know how I will be able to wait until December to know how this epic story ends.
Vampire Academy is my favorite series and Richelle delivered. Spirit Bound was action-packed, full of surprises, emotions and magic. I was in awe so many times during this book, it really was fabulous.
I think Shadow Kiss is still my favorite of the series because I’m such a romantic but Spirit Bound is very close second.
I really hope Rose will have her happy ending in The Last Sacrifice (even though the title doesn’t point that way), she’s been through so much, she really deserves her happily ever after.

Fantastic (yet oh so infuriatingly teasing) review! Reading this has, if possible, made me ten times MORE excited to read Spirit Bound!! Man, this sounds amazing. The next few days are going to be a LONG WAIT. So lucky you got to read this! Thanks for posting this up now rather than waiting until Tuesday - it's increased the anticipation :)
ReplyDeleteMay I ask you a question, a weird one at that: how close are these theories to the actual book? Click here
ReplyDeleteI would really love it if you replied :)
I haven't started reading the series yet, but by the sounds of it I can't wait until I get to this one...bring on the Vampire Academy series :)

ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to describe in words just how much I want to read this novel. Luckily I have a copy coming my way soon. Also great review! I didn't think it was possible but your review has made me want to read Spirit Bound even more. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Leah =)
ReplyDeleteOne of their theroy is exact and another is close but not exact. I'm not telling you which ones =P
Oh - I cannot wait! Thanks for making it spoiler free - enough to tease me though :)
ReplyDeleteSigh.. I want this NOW.
ReplyDeleteMy copy gets here on the 20th. You did good not being so specific, but the goodreads//publisher summary spoils the early books of the series, might want to put a warning on that. :-)
Hi Tynga =)
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky, I can't wait to read SB!!!!
can I ask one question?
I really love Dimitri so will I be sad with this book???
(sorry my bad english)
Hello Luana =)
ReplyDeleteNo worries about your english, it's not my main language either hehe
Dimitri was very frustrating in this book, but I think there is still hope!
No spoilers? Oh, I need to read this book!
ReplyDeleteoh thank you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping for one or two spoilers, but nahh! haha
I hope Adrian<3 and Rose stay together, buuuut we all know how that will end :[[
thank you though! I can't wait to get my copy!
I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI thought it impossible but your review made me want to read this book even more! :)
ReplyDeletethanks for just the right amount of insight!
I was actually disappointed. The logic wasn't internally consistent in places, which had Rose acting in ways that didn't make sense. And I wasn't invested in her relationship with Adrien this time. I'll see the series out, but will wait to get it at the library instead of paying full price at my local bookstore, next time.
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job of this review perfectly portraying the emotion and excitement of the book without spoilers. I was going to wait to read it but now will have to read it as soon as I can get my hands on a copy. Thanks, now I'm really excited as I love this series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review!! Gosh I want Rose to end up with Dimitri SOO BAD!
ReplyDeleteDont get me wrong- Adrian is nice and all, but Rose will never feel for him the way she feels about Rose.
Cant wait to read this.
I loved your review. Your thoughts have given me a lot to think about and anticipate. I can't wait to read Spirit Bound. I am hoping Amazon.com will send it early enough that it arrives on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI wish we didn't have to wait until December for The Last Sacrifice. Oh, well. I guess if it was published earlier then the series would be over that much quicker. I will be sad to see the end in a way.
I can't wait to read this book, I saw it in my local bookstore but it wasn't available for purchase.only 2 days left, I know I will devour it soon as I get my hands on it. How long did it take you to finish this book?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your great comments everyone =)
ReplyDeleteI am planning to post a discussion on release day, there are so many things I want to talk about with you guys once you read it!
Oh and I read it in 3days. I usually read about 100pages a day, so reading 500 in 3 days is fast for me =P
I finished it today and OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot wait for December, it's going to be torture!! Richelle knows how to plot and twist and break my heart like there's no tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I can't imagine how hard it is to review a book this long without giving anything away, so kudos.
ReplyDeleteI do have one question though: What can you tell me about Christian? I'm a big fan and not having heard ANYTHING about him from anyone has me kind of anxious.
OMG girl! You almost killed me with this review!! I need this book now.
ReplyDeleteHello Vivaces!
ReplyDeleteChristian is around, but it's really not easy between him and Lissa after what happened in BP, you'll have to read and see for yourself =)
And what about Robert Doru? I have a feeling he wasn't added into the story just to restore Dimitri's soul... am I right?
ReplyDeleteLana, I honestly don't know the answer to that question.
ReplyDeletePlease, tell me if Rose will get save Dimka!!!!!!!!!!! Please, please! I need to know cause I can't sleep more thinking about it! I'm crazing!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you if she succeed, but I can tell that she's gonna try really hard and will give up everything she's got in hopes of doing so.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't you tell me? =(
ReplyDeleteIt would really spoil the fun, and I don't want to give any spoilers on that post. You can come back on tuesday I will post a discussion, and there will be spoilers on that one. I want to get people's feedback on the book =)
ReplyDeleteDimitri returned to being a dhampir in SB ??????

ReplyDeleteI don't understand. Rose'll do everything for Dimitri WHILE dating Adrian?
ReplyDeletePoor poor Adrian :/ He gets sad, doesn't he?
i was wondering if Dimitri came back, but finished everything with Rose because feels guilty????
ReplyDeleteWow you girls are killing me lol, you should work for the FBI and pry information out of criminals lol
ReplyDeleteTynga, when you said that there is hope for Dimitri do you mean that he and Rose can end together right???
ReplyDeleteI want Dimitri to have his happy end :(
Such an awesome review, Tynga. I can't wait for this book. I'm, like, dying. <3
ReplyDeleteI'm not witholding information from you guys to torture you, I just don't want to giveaway any spoilers before the release out of respect for Richelle Mead. Spirit Bound is a hard release, so know one is suppose to know the plot before it's out you know =(
ReplyDeleteI hope you aren't mad at me

ReplyDeleteThanx so much for your review. But I totally can't wait until tomorrow. I love Dimitri- and it sounds like I'm going to be disappointed in this book? I've been waiting for May 18th for so long! I just want Dimitri and Rose to find their way back to eachother...any other hints you want to share?
ReplyDeleteRead the book, loved it, but to be honest not my favourite Vampire Academy book. Can't wait till december!!!!

ReplyDeleteI HAD to find a review of this book but didn't want to read one with tons of spoilers. I recently won it so I am impatiently waiting for it's arrival. Thank you so much for a great review without any spoilers. I am doubly excited but somewhat satisfied until I can get my hands on it. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteGlad You like my review Yesenia =)
ReplyDeleteOMG, VA's getting better and better. I just loooove it. SB was so intriguing. I didn't like how Dimitri's not being himself and the last sentence of SB was good.
