"When I'm not writing" is back and our first guest is Kathleen Collins, author of REALM WALKER from Carina Press. It's the start of a new series and it looks pretty promising. Her visit is part of her blog tour in support of this new novel and I hope you'll stick around for your chance to win a great giveaway package at the end of the post.
Honestly when I’m not writing, I’m working or reading or spending time with my hubby and our two boys. I do have one hobby that lately I have been making myself schedule time for just because I missed it so much. I do all sorts of crafting, this includes scrapbooking, altering items, making items, painting, etc. Or as my husband says, I collect the items I need to do crafting. Buying new supplies is almost as much fun as making something with them, I’ll freely admit to that.
I’ve done a wide variety of projects in the past and given away probably more than I kept. One project I did was even featured on a company’s design blog. And the woman that designed the paper I used emailed me to tell me how much she loved it. How cool is that? But that was years ago. Now since my time is so fleeting, everything I make is just for us. At the moment, I’m working on our wedding album. Since we’ve been married fourteen years this month, I figure it’s about time I finish it. (See what I mean about time.)
One of my more recent projects was a modified family tree I did for our living room. It was fun to do and I’m thrilled with the way it turned out. Sorry for the green splotches but I’m becoming more aware about posting pictures of my kids online now that my book is coming out.
And sometimes I scrapbook completely pointless things just for the creative release. This particular layout sprang from an old book page I got in a scrapbooking kit that showed the red queen from Alice in Wonderland screaming “Off with her head!” It became a way to list some of my more irritating pet peeves.
This is more typical of what I do when I scrapbook. A traditional scrapbook page featuring my dad. This one was made a few years ago, but it still hangs over my table so I can look at it every time I go downstairs.
So there you have it. It’s not exciting but I love it and it’s just another way for me to express my creativity.
