New Blog Design : I Need Your Opinion! + Survey

Hello guys!

I’ve been working on a new design for the blog for the last couple of days mostly because it’s been forever since I did a major change, but also because I want to reflect the fact that we are 4 reviewers on the blog now. I also want to take the blog to a new level :)

At this point, the global template is pretty much done, and I’m now working on the details. And I’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter!

Is there a specific feature you’d like to see? Any suggestions?

Is there an aspect of Tynga’s Reviews’ design that you absolutely want me to keep?

More specifically, I’m really leaning towards a “read more” (see example here) style to give the blog a more professional look, and I really want to know how you feel about it.

How do you feel about the ‘Read more’ feature?

Be assured that your feedback is greatly appreciated and will be taken into consideration!

Thank you very much!

  1. I love the read more feature. This is how you get a user to click more on your site and stay there. The more clicks, the more page views..etc!

It's also a lot easier on the eyes. You have about a 3-5 second time span for users to stay. That's all it takes. Which is why .gifs are all the rage agin b/c it attracts the eye. I personally detest them only b/c I can't stop watching it lol.

KUDOS Tynga, for opting to re-design your blog on your own :)

P.S. Your email is still in my inbox and I will reply as fast as I can

  2. Sounds like a great idea! I've always been a fan of the "read more" and I try to use it in most of my posts to shorten the length on the home page. What I detest are the shorten RSS feeds that show up in Google Reader. So, don't change that option in your feed settings. :) Otherwise, I can't wait to see what the new design will be.

  3. I love it. I get a better overview of latest posts without having to scroll down a lot. I'd definitely be inclined to stay longer and read more posts. And it does look more professional.
I have a template from btemplates (until I can afford a custom design) but the feature didn't work properly so that was a bummer.

Can't wait to see your new look :)

  4. The poll isn't available!!! Or I'd totally fill it out!

I use the "read more" feature and I really like it!

  5. I have only used the read more feature when either A. the review/post contains spoilers of some sort or B. it contained "naughty" material (only words of course) since I know a lot of my viewers are teens. Besides those reasons I don't particularly like the feature, especially not on an every-post basis. Can't wait to see the new layout though!

  6. Lol, I am deviant, I hate the read more button. If I visit a blog, I want to see the whole post at once, and not have to wait for a new page to load.
Looking forward to your new look Tynga :)

  7. I think whatever you decide will be awesome. Read more does seem to give a blog a more professional look. I do like that you are now going to be publicizing that there is more than one of you on here. 8) Can't wait to see what you do!
