Welcome to the First Annual Chicagoland Vampires Spring Fling!

I am super stoked about today's post because we're participating in the First Annual Chicagoland Vampires Spring Fling! I've been in love with Merit and the world of the Chicagoland Vampires since I picked up SOME GIRLS BITE and the series has gotten bigger and better with each installment. The sixth book in the series, BITING COLD, comes out in fewer than 80 days and Chloe Neill has set up this lovely one-week tour as part of the celebration! (Plus, May is Chloe's favourite month.)

About the Chicagoland Vampires Novels: Turned into a vampire against her will, twenty-eight-year-old Merit, the heroine of Chloe Neill’s New York Times bestselling series, found her way into the dark circle of Chicago’s vampire underground, where she learned there was more to supernaturals than met the eye—and more supernaturals than the public ever imagined. The sixth book in the series, BITING COLD, will be released on August 7, 2012.

Chloe Neill Hard BittenWhy I Love these Books: Merit's an amazing protagonist who jumps off the page and she's surrounded by a cast of equally compelling characters. (I adore all of the Cagodan vampires we spend time with but I have particularly soft spots for Lindsay and Malik.) Plus, the overall story arc of the series gets bigger with each book and watching Merit and the other Cadogan vampires rise to the occasion makes for an absorbing and fast-paced read. There's also a lot of humour in the books, even with all the heavy moments, and I love a book that brings the funny. And, of course, there's Jonah. Love him. I'm sure most people are on Team Ethan but I think Jonah's the bee's knees. My favourite book so far: HARD BITTEN. Here's why.

Did you Know?: Merit, the heroine of the Chicagoland Vampires novels, is obsessed with chocolate? She kept an entire kitchen drawer stuffed with chocolate delights, including chocolate-covered pecans and giant, gold-wrapped bars of Lindt chocolate that remind her of the chocolate bars in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory?

The Spring Fling is your chance to get familiar with the Chicagoland Vampires novels and get excited for BITING COLD so I hope you'll visit each and every blog on the tour. There are fun facts and amazing giveaways on each blog and I'd strongly encourage to visit each one.

Here's the scoop on SOME GIRLS BITE:

Chloe Neill Some Girls BiteThey killed me. They healed me. They changed me.

Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was mine. I was doing fine until Chicago’s vampires announced their existence to the world-and then a rogue vampire attacked me. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker… and this one decided the best way to save my life was to make me the walking undead.

Turns out my savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now I’ve traded sweating over my thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan “Lord o’ the Manor” Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four hundred year old vampire, he has centuries’ worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects my gratitude-and servitude. Right…

But my burgeoning powers (all of a sudden, I’m surprisingly handy with some serious weaponry), an inconvenient sunlight allergy, and Ethan’s attitude are the least of my concerns. Someone’s still out to get me. Is it the rogue vampire who bit me? A vamp from a rival House? An angry mob bearing torches?

My initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war-and there will be blood…

  2. OMG, this prize pack is amazing! I love the Chicaland Vamps. I have the large size Cadogan House mug that I save for my weekend coffee's and my Sentinel tshirt too. Can't get enough Merit and Ethan. I do agree that Jonah is pretty cool too, but Ethan. I did really like Marcus at first, but he turned into a whiny baby.

Oh I hope I win this prize pack, thanks for being a part of the tour!

  4. I love the Chicagoland Vampire series. One of my favorite things is Chloe's ability to create such an incredible world with each character so well developed in the series. That's true talent. And who doesn't love a girl who isn't afraid to eat in front of a man or vamp!

  7. Love this series! Love Merit! Almost as much, I love that it's set in my hometown :-) Flying off the library downtown, the lakefront...I could see it all so clearly. Ethan, Jacob & the cast of charchters keep me wondering how or if Merit will get her HEA. Her family is something else too! So much to love about these books...& I do love them! :-)

  12. What I love the most about this series is Chloe Neill's guts. I've been frustrated and outraged over some of the things that she's done to the characters in this series. Even though her stories aren't always easy to swallow; I can't help but admire her for going against the typical HEA endings.

  25. I love the relationships that Merit has with all the different supernatural beings she meets.

  26. I love how all the vampires like in Houses together. Its like college for the Undead. I loved living in the dorms.

  37. I love this series. Everything draws me to it. From the endearing characters, to the humor, to the way the way this series is so wonderfully written. Everyone who likes paranormal books should read this series, this author.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I want to read this story because everyone in the series already know about the vampires, so I don't have to wait for the dumb main character to stop freaking out over the fact that the vamps are real. Plus the character sounds like a strong person who knows exactly what she wants, and doesn't need to wait around for someone else to help/do things for her.

But I have heard so many wonderful things about them that they have been at the top of my TBR list forever. I am going to have to break down and spend the $ and read them soon!

  52. I love the snarkiness of Merit and Catcher. Always fun to read and always makes me laugh. They are some of the funniest characters I've ever read about. Any time I'm asked who my favorite kick ass heroine is, I have to go with Merit because she kicks butt and she looks danged good doing it in leather!! ReplyDelete
  59. I love the way the vampires try to stick together and fight as a unit. They live, eat, and sleep in the same place, I think it helps them have a better bond.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I've only read the first three (the second is coming up soon in my TBR pile), but I love the characters and the tension Neill creates between them.

Also, the humor and the fact that the storylines differ from book to book, it's not just a rehashing of the same thing in a different form.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I like Merit, though I think she's too much of a pushover when it comes to Ethan (can you tell he's not my favorite?), and the secondary characters: her grandpa's crew and especially Catcher. There's also always a good whodunit thrown in.

    ReplyDelete
  62. What I love most about these books is Merit & Ethan's romantic & work relationship. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I love that Merit is strong, brave, loyal, and can kick some serious butt but she's also vulnerable and that makes her easier to relate to.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I haven't read the books yet. I'm intrigued by the tough heroine.

  74. I have not read the series yet...but it is on my TBR list! To me, I would say the most appealing thing about the CV series would be the mystery with the action and the romance! It just gets to you! :D I love that one series has so many genres mixed into one awesomesauce package! ;p I mean how can you resist that, right? Also, I have heard a great many things about this series and know that it has powerful characters! I will definitely be looking forward to reading to this!
