Kate’s schedule was too busy to write a fable for us, but she still wanted to offer a copy of her latest release to one lucky reader!

This is the one fans will not want to miss. The explosive 12th and final volume in the long-running and phenomenally successful Wolf Tales series!

Five years have passed since the Chanku managed to halt an attempt on the president's life. All is well, the packs are thriving, their numbers increasing, but something has Anton concerned. Some sense of danger he can't identify.

And then Lily, beautiful, brilliant, magical Lily, disappears, lost on the astral plane. In this final, searing episode, questions will be answered, a past no one expected is revealed, and the future of the Chanku is altered forever.

  1. If it's a series that I LOVED I'm a bit sad. I often hope that the author will revisit the series later on with the secondary or younger characters.

  2. On one hand I am sad that it's over (then again I can always re-read the whole series) and on the other hand it's sometimes a relief, because some authors will go on and on even though they've told everything that there is and sequels get worse in quality. I rather have a series that comes to an end with book five and all five are awesome, then to have 15 of which 10 are below average or downright bad.

  3. I'm almost always sad when a series ends, even though I am glad to finally see the conclusion and see how everything ties together, but that's always bittersweet when I remember that this is the final book and I won't be getting to hear more stories about these characters (at least in most cases).

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  4. I sometimes hate to see a series end. there always seems like there could be more told about the characters. But if the series is going to go on in other ways like a new series spin off from the characters children...then I can handle that.

  5. It depends on the series, but really I hate to see a favorite read end. I feel there could have been more stories and adventures. I enjoy spin off, because you get more of the same characters you loved. Sometimes it's obvious a series is to end, after so many stories and it seemed to lack the potential the first many did. Either way, I mostly hate to see a good series end.

  9. I is both sad and joyous to me when a series ends. I am sad to see the characters go but at the same time it is nice to have a conclusion and all the questions answered. I like to go back and re-read so I can always re-visit.

  12. If it's a series that I've loved all along, then I'm sad and feel like a family member's missing. That comfort factor is gone. If it's a series that's lost steam, then I'm relieved to finally be able to break away since I have a hard time parting with a series even when it becomes boring since I still want to see the conclusion.

  14. If a series is ending and I like the series, kind of make me sad.. happens with Vampire Academy when I know there was only 6 books. And there's usually some characters that's left in the air and the readers don't know what happened to them.

  15. I feel really bummed, especially if it was a good series. As long as the series ended on a good note and all was wrapped up, I can get over it. I think the ones that are 6 books plus are the hardest to see end. You read them forever and then that's it.

  17. I generally go through a period of mourning when a series ends. My brain just won't stop thinking about the characters or the end. When you've invested so much time into the characters they feel like friends and family. When you can't pick up that next book to visit your friends it's definitely sad.

  21. I'm always sad to see a series end, especially if it's a strong series that gets better with each book. However, everything has an end and some of the more popular and never ending series seem to not be as enjoyable and get repetitive. I'd rather say goodbye and have excellent books to reread than to start to dislike or stop reading a series. Thanks for such an awesome giveaway!

  24. I guess you can say that my feelings about a series' end depends on how the author ends the series. For instance, although I'm sad that the Vampire Academy series is finished, I was satisfied with the way that Richelle Mead ended it so I can deal. When a series ends and things aren't resolved in a satisfying way it really ticks me off.

  39. I have mixed emotions at the end of a series. If I have followed it from book one and has a satisfying ending, I am fine. If it just stops in the middle of nowhere it really annoys me:) There have been times when I have read the final book in a series and not realized it and after enjoying the book will go back and start at book one - that is a fun treasure hunt - I love the ride and learning how everyone ended up where they did. Thank you for the fun today and for the lovely giveaway opportunity.

  42. The end of the series is always a bad thing for me. When you love it so much, it's like leaving a part of you behind. You can reread as much as you want, but it's never quite the same as the thrill of getting that next instalment and reading it for the first time. Happy endings rule, but ending a series sucks.

  46. (I deleted my first attempt because it was full of typos! Sorry...)

Love reading everyone's comments. Do you mind if I tell you what it's like from an author's point of view? It's painful--like a death in the family. I have grown so emotionally attached to all the Chanku characters that writing the final book was almost physically painful. And when it was over, I felt really good in the way it ended, but I went into a very deep depression that lasted for months. It was hard to write and even harder to stop thinking about the characters.

I still hear from Anton on occasion--he'll pop in and start chatting in my head and it's like an old friend has come to visit.

It does appear that I'm going to be able to write the second generation stories, though. The series, at this point, is called Spirit Wild and the first book will be Lily's story: To Love a Dark Wolf. No idea when it will come out, but at least it appears I'm going to get to write it, and that's good news.

  47. The end of a series is always sad to see. But if an author ties up all the loose ends I'm fine with that. It's the cliff hanger that makes me go "GRRR"! A good author can always start a new story. It doesn't always have to tie together. A stand alone story will be read too :)

  54. If it's a series I like, I'm usually sad because it can never be wrapped up enough for me. I was sad that Keri Arthur ended her Riley Jensen series even though Riley pops up as a secondary character in her new series.

I was happy when Tamar Myers ended her Magdalena Yoder series, I have no idea why I continued to read it after book 3 or 4 (never bought them, thank you library). The characters were so unlikeable.

  59. It really is bittersweet when a series ends. A few times it seems like the author is dragging out the series, so I like it when the series has been mapped out properly to the point where there is a logical end to the story. Plus you get to find out what happened to all those loose threads the author has weaved into the plot.

But if it's a series I've been slobbering over since book 1? Yeah, it's kind of sad to see it end. I can only hope that the author is kind enough to give us poor readers a spin off series. My current example is Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. She's given us spin-off stand alone books and a spin-off series.

  63. I find series ends to be bittersweet. If they are handled well and leave a sense of finale to them they aren't that bad but I don't really enjoy it when they end and I'm still wondering "what if". :(
