When you can see things others can't, where do you look for the truth?

This paranormal murder mystery will have teens reading on the edge of their seats.

Clarity "Clare" Fern sees things. Things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It's a gift.

And a curse.

When a teenage girl is found murdered, Clare's ex-boyfriend wants her to help solve the case - but Clare is still furious at the cheating jerk. Then Clare's brother - who has supernatural gifts of his own - becomes the prime suspect, and Clare can no longer look away. Teaming up with Gabriel, the smoldering son of the new detective, Clare must venture into the depths of fear, revenge, and lust in order to track the killer. But will her sight fail her just when she needs it most?

Clarity a.k.a. Clare Fern and her family live in a small town, where nothing out of the ordinary occurs, however, Clare and her family are nowhere near ordinary, they have psychic abilities. Clare’s mother can read people’s thoughts, her brother, Perry, can see spirits and have them take control over his body, and Clare can see images of the past by simply touching objects belonging to the individual.

After the murder of a tourist, the mayor turns to Clare and requests that she team up with her ex-boyfriend Justin, and attractive junior detective Gabriel, to solve the mystery before the murderer takes more victims. Everyone is a suspect. Can Clare use her abilities to expose the true murderer before it’s too late?

Kim Harrington begins the novel with a bone chilling prologue, depicting one of the final scenes in Clarity; there is a gun being pointed at Clare, and she discovers at last who the true murderer is. Clare tries to convince the murderer to put town the weapon, without seeming to have any success.

Clarity is a light and enjoyable read, filled with mystery, suspense, humor, and romance. I enjoyed the storyline so much that I finished reading Clarity in just one day! If you have not yet read Clarity and plan to in the near future, be warned, I would definitely wait until the next installment in the series, Perception, releases in March 2012 and get them both at the same time! You won’t want to wait to find out what happens next! I was definitely surprised to discover the events that unraveled throughout the novel, leading to the jaw dropping scene described in the prologue!

My favorite element of Clarity is how Kim Harrington keeps everyone a suspect without giving any hint as to who the true murderer was. I admire Kim Harrington’s ability to keep her readers guessing throughout the entire novel. I also enjoyed the added element of the paranormal, as well as the love triangle formed between the three main characters, Clare, Justin, and Gabriel. I am personally hoping to see more development between Clare and Gabriel in Perception.

Kim Harrington is a fantastic writer and I can definitely say that I am looking forward to the next installment, Perception, to release! I recommend Clarity to anyone who enjoys Young Adult fiction, Mystery Thrillers, Suspense, Romance, and a little hint of the Paranormal.
