We're part of Cecy's blog tour so there's a giveaway at the end of the post!
Thanks, Cecy!
Cecy Robson brings the heat in CURSED BY DESTINY, the third novel in her Weird Girls series. Celia and her sisters get drawn deeper into the supernatural community, the Tribe is becoming more brazen and dangerous, and Celia's love life somehow manages to get ever more complicated.
Celia's a girl in trouble. Her heart is bound to Aric, but he is a pureblood were who must deny her or risk condemning his species to extinction. And that's just her love life. She's also been called to take down a group of demon terrorists looking to overthrow the paranormal world. (No pressure.)
The Aric-Celia-Misha love triangle gets a lot of page time. I don't usually take issue with love triangles, as long as they're organic and work within the story, but I find myself getting really tired of Aric. I understand that he's torn between duty and love and that it's causing a lot of internal havoc for his wolf but I cared less while reading CURSED BY DESTINY. I guess I'm Team Misha because I found myself becoming quite fond of our resident manipulative but oh so compelling vampire, especially since Celia's living with the vampires and we get to see Misha's softer side. He'll always be machiavellian but his feelings for Celia are genuine and he's much more upfront with her than Aric, which won him major points in my book. Robson also introduces another man for Celia -- though Celia isn't terribly impressed by him. The were elders, on the other hand, are definitely on his side, which makes everything just a tad more complex. For my part, it seems unnecessary since Celia already has two options but perhaps the newest guy will grow on me (and Celia), and I'll be more invested in Celia's love square.
Celia's sisters are also experiencing ups and downs on the romance front. In each case, it really shows a lot about the girls' characters and lets us get to know them better, which is great because what we knew before this book was relatively superficial. That's not to say that they're not good characters -- it's just that we spend so much time in Celia's head that we know her much better than the other Wird girls. We see a lot of growth from Emme in particular, which I loved because she's probably my favourite sister, but both Taran and Shayna also get some nice page time.
CURSED BY DESTINY ends on a very exciting and serious note and it's left me extremely curious about where Robson will take Celia and her friends and family next. Robson is a talented writer who manages to surprise me time and again, which definitely makes her a Must Buy author for me.
Cecy is offering one (1) prize pack (a signed copy of CURSED BY DESTINY, a magnet, lip balm, and bookmark) to a lucky reader!

ReplyDeleteI haven't read the series but Misha got me at vampire (if there is a vampire I will choose him)
ReplyDeleteMisha because I don't really like wolfs :/
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice review and for being part of my tour. Wishing everyone a joyous 2014!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this series yet :D,but I have on my TBR and plan to read very soon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!
Happy Holidays :)
I haven't read the series yet so I am not sure what team I would be on.
ReplyDeleteI haven't really decided whose team I'm on. I like both and dislike both. We will see what happens. Love the series!
ReplyDeleteTeam Misha because I'm annoyed at Aric.
ReplyDeleteAfter the last book I'm going with Team Misha!
ReplyDeleteI am on no team as I have not read book 1 but will soon so saying nothing before that
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING this series and Misha :)
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your blog I'll go with Team Misha because you say he's upfront about his feelings for Celia and not hesitant!
ReplyDeletei can't decide right now i guess i haven't read enough to really favour one or the other
ReplyDeletethank you once again for the international giveaway. i just got a problem with the rafflecopter so i hope it didn't enter my entry twice ( if it did i'm sorry i didn't mean too)
ReplyDeleteTeam Misha because Aric gets on my nerves :D
ReplyDeleteOOoh nice review! I don't know which team I'm on. Before it was definitely Aric, but yeah he disappointed me in the last book. Since I haven't read this book yet, I feel like I can't make a good judgment call yet because I haven't seen Misha in action yet. So I guess until I read this one I remain undecided.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, great review! I love this series!
Misha because he's true to his nature. No faulting that.
ReplyDeleteTeam Misha because he's the vampire and Aric really annoys me!! Thanks a lot for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGreat review, and thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteTeam Aric-I'm a sucker for angst, and while I love Misha, I don't love him with Celia! I'm hoping for an HEA, but I'm afraid from everything I've read about the ending to this one...plus we have no idea yet when #4 is going to be out! :) (I hate waiting!!!)
ReplyDeleteMisha has a more romantic approach.
ReplyDeleteI'm Team Gah!Nospoilers!Avertyoureyes! I haven't started the series yet and I didn't want to accidentally see something that I wouldn't know unless I had, so I had to skim the description. Sorry, I'm just super crazy like that.
ReplyDeleteReally need to read this series going to buy it soon. Thanks for the awesome post!
ReplyDeleteNeither; haven't read these books
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that it depends on my mood, what is going on in the book and etc. I waffle. I just cannot choose permanently.
ReplyDeleteTeam Misha, because my name is Maisha and I was asked a question~! :)
ReplyDeleteTeam Aric because I like my wolves but I like vamps too so it's hard. I guess I don't see Celia with Misha as nice as he is with her.
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I love the Weird Girls series!! I haven't read Curse by Destiny yet but we seem to have similar sentiments on the series and Celia's love interests so far. I’m trying, although it’s difficult, not to pick sides too quickly when it comes to Aric and Misha. I have a feeling that Cursed by Destiny will get me off the fence. However, with the introduction of a third interest....Hmmm??? I'll just have to wait and see. :)
ReplyDeleteHaven't read any of this series, yet, though I do have one in my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteTeam Misha because he’s amazing. <3
ReplyDeleteI love this series. Cecy takes us on an emotional roller coaster ride in each story. as for Team Aric or Team Misha I'm a little of both but leaning towards Aric even though he broke her heart. I'm looking forwards to Cursed by Destiny.
ReplyDeleteI haven't started this series yet, so i'm not sure yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
Team Aric... even though he's a bit of an dense boy sometimes :) Thanks for sharing! I'm sooo excited for this new book!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the books yet but Misha seems more interesting though I usually prefer weres over vampires.
ReplyDeleteWell, because I just read book #1, I'm definitely Team Aric :)
