"When I'm not writing" with Alyssa Richards

Today we're hosting Alyssa Richards, who has a brand new book out TODAY!  Alyssa is a paranormal romance author who lives in the South with her husband and two children.  In 2015 alone, she's published two great novels!  Her writing is influenced by her curiosity with ghosts and the supernatural world.  She writes daily and believes that discipline and commitment to the craft are critical to be a successful writer.  Here's what she's up to when she's not writing!

When I'm Not Writing Marie

I have two young boys, so when I’m not writing I’m most often with them in some way. They’re both involved in sports so I also spend a fair amount of time at soccer and baseball fields. I keep my iPad and laptop in my bag and have learned to read and write between plays :) We enjoy traveling as a family.

We live in an area with lots of lakes, hiking trails and biking paths so, weather-permitting, we’re outside as much as possible. One of my favorite things to do, though, is to visit museums. I love art of all kinds; I’m endlessly fascinated by it. And, of course, it’s always fun to combine my love of art with my love of travel!

Gardening is another passion. I have several different rose and herb gardens and they keep me busy in the warmer months!

Here's the scoop on Somewhere in Time:

Somewhere in Time Alyssa Richards Fine Art of Deception

Addison Montgomery has finally found love with the man of her dreams, Blake Greenwood, and is ready to live another lifetime of happiness with him. But the morning they’re supposed to bring closure to their dark, violent past, all chances of a happily-ever-after turn as dead as the ghosts she sees on a daily basis.

Now Addie must team up with her greatest enemy, embracing her not-quite-perfect gift of reading art psychically. If she succeeds, she will finally learn the truth behind her father’s and grandfather’s disappearances. If she fails, every chance at love she’s ever hoped for will be destroyed. But one thing is clear: she has to choose between saving Blake or her family, and there’s no way she can ever have both.

Purchase: Amazon

And here's where it all began:

Fine Art of Deception Alyssa Richards

Art appraiser Addison Montgomery just wants a normal life. One where she can ignore the vicious ghosts who follow her. One where she’s free from her “gift” of touching an object and seeing the owner’s deepest secrets. And one where she can fall in love without having all of the above get in the way.

But when tall, dark, and dangerous gallery owner Blake Greenwood enters her life, normal is the last thing she’s feeling. The man has more secrets than the priceless art he sells, giving Addison’s quest for normal no chance. That, and he may just hold the key to uncovering the truth behind her father’s unexplained disappearance.

Despite her paranormal gifts warning her to stay away, she feels an inexplicable, captivating fascination for him, something that goes deeper than attraction. There’s something between them that’s older than time, and if she can learn to give him her trust, it may just save her life.———————————

"When I'm not writing" with Lauren Smith

Today we're hosting Lauren Smith, who has a brand-new Christmas paranormal romance out today!  (Can you believe it's already time to read Christmas-y books?!?)

When I'm Not Writing Marie

Lauren SmithLike most writers who love what they do, I think about writing all day. I mean it, ALL DAY, because I genuinely love what I do and it’s like I’m constantly playing with imaginary friends. But there are times I can’t write or think about writing. At these times, I’m usually cooking a fun meal with my mother. She’s a fantastic cook and I’m always trying to pick up a recipe or two from her. The next thing I also do is watch the occasional Oklahoma State football game with my dad. We’re both graduates from that school and we bleed orange and black! Go Pokes!

In my downtown, when I’m letting the muse rest up before the next great story, I also love going out to the Tulsa Ballet with my friends. The ballet in my hometown is fantastic. They weave stories with elaborate sets and costumes and the dancing of course is superb! I’m a sucker for a good story if you can’t tell, and the ballet is one of the places to do it. When there’s no ballet on, I’m usually at the movies or out to dinner with my friends and catching up with them on what’s happening in their lives. Then it’s back to the writing or editing cave.

Here's the scoop on The Bite of Winter:

Bite of Winter Lauren SmithZoey Blake is about as far down on her luck as she can get. A car crash took her parents, leaving her destitute and on the street. When she’s attacked by another homeless person, her lifeblood drains away as her fading vision is filled with the face of a handsome stranger.

Ian Kennedy, a century old Irish vampire, never could resist rescuing a stray. As a few drops of his blood heals Zoey’s wounds, he realizes she’s a sweet, tempting, flesh-and-blood woman. But there’s one problem. Connor, who made Ian promise decades ago: no more mortal lovers.

After another vampire murdered his soulmate, Connor O’Shea swore never to let a mortal woman pay the price for loving him. Until he feels Zoey’s skin and tastes her lips. She makes him want to break that vow.

Zoey finds herself caught in their web of seduction. But as Christmas draws near and her grief deepens, happiness seems far out of reach. And Ian and Connor join forces to prove their love is sacred, special…and forever.

Warning: This book contains two scorching-hot Irish vampires, one lady with plenty of pluck but zero luck, naughty lingerie, and enough Christmas cheer to redeem even the darkest creatures.

"When I'm not writing" with Lia Davis

Today we're hosting Lia Davis, who just released Dragon's Web on Sunday!

Lia Davis

———————————

When I’m not writing, I’m plotting the next one. There isn’t a moment when I’m not thinking about writing or plotting what happens next. Writing is not only my job, it’s my hobby and I love everything about it.

When I’m not writing or plotting, I’m spending time with my hubby and grandbabies (I have two now. Bella is 1 and Hayden is 2 weeks old). Hubby and I love to spend time out doors or just watching a movie when the kids and grandbabies aren’t around.

There are times when I need some quiet time to myself. That is when I grab a paperback or my kindle—sometimes both—and go to a quiet place and read.

I also enjoy making beaded jewelry and other crafty things.

Stacking The Shelves

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

If you want to find out more about Stacking The Shelves, please visit the official launch page!

——————

Hello all!  It seems like it's been a little while since my last turn hosting Stacking the Shelves... but don't worry!  The stack isn't overwhelmingly large.  I've been trying to limit the number of books that I bring home, because my reading time is a little reduced:  I started grad school (Masters of Library and Information Science) this semester!  Actually, I should amend that:  my leisure reading time is reduced; my homework reading is sometimes crazy!  Good thing I like the topic.  :)

I'm going to kick off this week's stack with three kind of special books.  One from the library, and two purchases:

Real Deal Guide to Pregnancy Erika Lenkert What to Expect When You're Expecting Heidi Murkoff Eating Well When You're Expecting

Yup:  the hubby and I are expecting our first!!!  I'm very excited.  And I'm a reader, so of course I'm reading the classics!  The Real Deal Guide to Pregnancy was a fun one that I picked up at the library.  Not very in-depth, but a bit reassuring.  Like talking to a girlfriend.  (I've found that often people follow up the news with a few questions:  so, I'm at 14 weeks, due at the end of April, and I don't know the sex yet.)

Now on to the rest of my stack, starting with egalleys and ARCs:

The Boy Who Played With Fusion Tom Clynes Wilberforce H S Cross Advent in Narnia Heidi Haverkamp Killshot Aria Michaels

The Boy Who Played With Fusion by Tom Clynes:  who wouldn't be intrigued by that title?

Wilberforce by H.S. Cross:  the description makes it sound like a cross between Winger and Dead Poets Society, both of which I love.

Advent in Narnia by Heidi Haverkamp:  the hubby and I love the Narnia books, so I'm looking forward to reading this together during the upcoming holiday season.

Killshot by Aria Michaels:  already read, loved, and reviewed!  You can read that review HERE, and an interview with the author HERE.

New Purchases:

Decameron Boccaccio

The Decameron by Boccaccio: first English edition!  The hubby and I collect books not just for pleasure, but also historicity, so we love first edition finds.  I also happen to truly love this book, and own a modern Penguin edition for reading and rereading.  I found this in a tiny little used book store in the Appalachian Mountains.

Before Liberty Roy Thompson Unseemly Education of Anne Merchant Joanna Wiebe

Before Liberty by Roy Thompson: a book I received while on a professional development trip this fall; it talks about North Carolina's role in the Revolutionary War.  Hardcover!  That's nice for a freebie book.

The Unseemly Education of Anne Merchant by Joanna Wiebe:  I read, loved, and reviewed this quite a while ago, but I had read an egalley of it.  After receiving a gift of the second book, I had to go buy the first one.  Can't have an incomplete series sitting on my bookshelf!  (So yes, I'll be buying the third book too!)  (Review HERE.)

Library:

Lair of Dreams Libba Bray Improbable Libraries Alex Johnson Come Rain or Come Shine Jan Karon Curious Nature Guide Clare Walker Leslie Breaking Dawn Stephenie Meyer Voracious Cara Nicoletti Morality for Beautiful Girls Alexander McCall Smith 501 Ways for Adult Students to Pay for College Gen Tanabe Kelly Well Fed Flat Broke Emily Wight

Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray:  already read, loved, and reviewed!  You can read that review HERE.

Improbable Libraries by Alex Johnson:  yup, I'm that much of a book nerd that I even check out books about books...  :)

Come Rain or Come Shine by Jan Karon:  my mom and I LOVE the Mitford books!  This is the latest one.  I read the library's copy, and am hoping to purchase my own soon.

The Curious Nature Guide by Clare Walker Leslie:  recommended through a professional development group, it's got lots of great graphics and pictures and easy-to-understand language.  I'd say it's one of those rare books enjoyable by anyone ages 8-108.

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer:  probably the best book of the four, I've already read and reviewed it.  You can read that review HERE.

Voracious: A Hungry Reader Cooks Her Way Through Great Books by Cara Nicoletti:  part cookbook, part memoir.  Haven't had time to delve into this one yet.

Morality for Beautiful Girls by Alexander McCall Smith:  this is #3 in his No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, which I thoroughly enjoy.  Not too deep, but good plots and pacing.  Comfort reads.

501 Ways for Adult Students to Pay for College: Going Back to School Without Going Broke by Gen and Kelly Tanabe:  obviously... because I'm back in school.

Well Fed, Flat Broke: Recipes for Modest Budgets and Messy Kitchens by Emily Wight:  I have a modest budget and a messy kitchen!  It's a book for me!  :)

What about you?  What books did you bring home this week?  Share your link below to join in the fun!

"When I'm not writing" with Aria Michaels

I just finished reading Killshot by Aria Michaels, and it was fantastic!  You can read my review HERE.  And here's a teaser quote from the book (just try to resist that)!

LanternZander Killshot Icarus Aria Michaels

When I'm Not Writing Marie

Aria Michaels

When I am not writing, I spend the vast majority of my time swirling about in what I lovingly refer to as "the blender." You see, in addition to being an indie author, an artist, and an entrepreneur I am also a busy mother of six...six BOYS, ages 14, 12, 8, 8, 7, and 5, to be more specific. Add to the mix two with special needs and our blended family is a potent mix if his, mine, and ours that always keeps us on our toes and leaves others wondering, "how do you do it?"

My days begin in a rush as we scramble for meds, missing shoes, and last-minute "I forgots," before we race out to the car for another epic battle for the front seat. Once I deposit the children to their respective schools, the real fun begins. By three, I will have coordinated with my staff, run three miles, spent hours on promotion and marketing, kissed my husband goodbye, made my appearances on social media, and written at least a thousand words. Then, it's off to brave the dangers of the school pick-up line. Once the kids are home, we turn that blender on high while I master the art of juggling. Homework and chores, therapy appointments, football practice and Taekwando, reading time and baths, and how about dinner? Sure! I got this. Okay, who am I kidding? I'm not Superwoman; sometimes dinner is toaster waffles and yogurt and reading time is four boys huddled around a Lego catalog while the other two read The Walking Dead compendium, but we manage and everyone gets through the day mostly in one piece. The second their little heads hit the pillow, I start my second job...or is it my third? I lose track (laughs).

In 2012, I opened up a shop on Etsy called The Alternate Ending (www.etsy.com/shop/thealternateending). I have always been artistic but over the years, I have found great joy in the art of upcycling and re-imagining. I visit estate sales, thrift shops and clearance racks scouring the shelves for that certain something that is begging for a new story and I happily give it one. Some of the items in my shop are fun creations that pop into my head demanding to be seen and others are special requests from my clients, but each and every one of them is quirky and unique. It is truly satisfying to look at a piece and not only appreciate what it was, but envision what it could be and make it happen. In addition to helping me support my family and my writing career, my shop provides me with an additional outlet for my creativity and, often times, inspiration for a new story. Before I know it, I am back at the computer, typing away.

More often than not, my poor husband will come home to find my projects slung from one end of the house to the other like an arts-and-crafts crime scene.  Just past the trail of glue guns, fabric scraps, and discarded paint brushes, he will find me smiling over a glass of wine and click furiously on the keys trying to get that idea out of my head before it goes away. I'm covered in paint and the remnants of whatever I threw together for dinner, my hair is a mess and hanging in my face but I'm happy. Eventually, he'll pry me away and we'll snuggle in to catch up on the day's events, watch an episode of The Walking Dead, and surrender to a good read. Without fail, I fall asleep with my glasses on and my kindle cracking me across the face every night. A few hours later, I wake up to the sounds of giggling and shuffling feet and we start the process all over again.

"How do you do it?" I hear it so often, it's become second nature to simply respond with a shrug and say, "I just do," but the truth is there is so much more to it than that. Yes, it's difficult living in a blended family. Yes, it is challenging managing children with special needs. Honestly, I have no idea how I have enough time to write five-hundred page novels while running an Etsy shop full time. I still can't work out the math as to how I fit it all into my day, but I do know one thing without question. I wouldn't trade my chaotic life in the blender for the world. That chaos is part of who I am, and it feeds my creativity. It energizes and inspires me and even on the longest, most trying of days there are a half a dozen smiles, hugs, and I love you's waiting for me.

Here's hoping you have a little frappe in your life, too.

Aria Michaels is the author of the Best-Selling young adult dystopian novel Killshot (Icarus Series, Book One) as well as its companion novella, Before the Sky Fell. In addition to her career as an author, Aria Michaels is an avid reader, die-hard zombie fan and enthusiastic lover of bonfires and red wine. When she is not glued to her computer pouring out the voices in her head, Aria can be found playing in the dirt with her boys, painting, or binge-watching The Walking Dead with her husband. Don't let her mild-mannered smile fool you…this woman has lofty ambitions that include complete global domination. She is determined to live in a world where every pair of yoga pants comes with a free book, an iced caramel macchiatto and a magic force-field that repels the sound of screaming children (of which she has six). "When I'm not writing" with Dianne Duvall + giveaway!

Badge_OFFICIALToday we have a guest post from Dianne Duvall, as part of her tour for her new book, A SORCERESS OF HIS OWN. I love her Immortal Guardians series but now she's out with something new, a self-published novel. I think you'll really enjoy discovering exactly what she does when she's not crafting her next novel!

WINW

When I’m not writing, I’m often thinking about writing, either going over the scene I wrote the day before or mentally writing the next one. I know it sounds weird, but sometimes I even mentally write scenes that I know will never find their way into my books. When you create the characters in a series and live with them for years, you tend to get to know them so well that it’s hard not to imagine them in this or that situation, even if it has absolutely nothing to do with the series arc.

When I’m not actually immersing myself in the world of Immortal Guardians and Gifted Ones, I’m often still doing writing related activities. Chatting with other readers and writers on social media sites. (Love to do that!) Blogging. Updating my website. (I’m not that great at HTML, but always seem to muddle my way through it.) Designing teaser images to share with readers. Or doing research. I’ve had to research some of the most peculiar subjects for my books. I know some writers dislike that portion of their vocation, but I actually enjoy it. I’m always curious to see what I’m going to have to look up next.

When I’m not writing, I also work in the local independent film industry, which is another fun creative outlet for me. I’ve worked all three stages of production in a variety of projects that ranged from drama to horror to romantic comedy. And, yes, I was still thinking about writing while doing it. LOL.

In pre-production, I have served as Script Editor, Assistant Casting Director, and Shooting Scheduler. Those are pretty self-explanatory. I edit scripts. I organize casting calls, rehearsals, and table readings. I also create shooting schedules, which is actually trickier than it sounds because films are shot out of sequence.

During production, I’ve worked as the special effects make-up artist, sometimes providing what I call blood and guts make-up. This is always fun, because the actors and crew get such a kick out of it. I have also provided other special effects, like “candy glass” car windows that can safely be shattered without harming the actor. I have also served as Script Supervisor. The Script Supervisor ensures continuity. So, if an actor scuffs her shoe in Scene 23, the Script Supervisor ensures that the actor’s shoe is scuffed in all subsequent scenes. That, too, is more difficult than is sounds, since—as I mentioned—films are shot out of sequence.

Post-production is the stage that allows me the most freedom to be creative, so I tend to enjoy it the most. In post-production, I edit films, add special effects, create unique title sequences, design movie posters, and fashion DVD menus and covers.

All of this film work, of course, came in handy when the time finally came to shoot trailers for my books. (So exciting!) It can also be quite time-consuming, though, and have very hectic schedules. So writing and filmmaking combined doesn’t leave me much in the way of downtime. I’d like to say I spend quite a bit of time reading. I’ve always been a voracious reader. But now I tend to get my fiction fix by listening to audiobooks while I do all of the things around the house that I sometimes neglect while writing: folding laundry, washing dishes, trying to solve the age-old socks vanishing in the dryer mystery. This year I’ve decided to make time for some gardening, but am not off to a stellar start. I’ve already neglected my little seedlings shamefully while working to meet my latest deadlines.

And, of course, I spend as much time as I can with family and friends, who—fortunately—don’t mind when my mind once more wanders away from the movie or TV show I’m supposed to be watching or the game I’m supposed to be playing and begins fashioning the next scene in my latest work in progress.

Did I mention that when I’m not writing, I’m often thinking about it? :)

"When I'm not writing" with Jan DeLima + giveaway!

Today we have an extremely awesome author visiting us: Jan DeLima. I'm a huge fan of her Celtic Wolves series and I'm waiting with bated breath for the next book in the series, AUTUMN MOON, coming out in September. There's a lovely giveaway as part of the tour so make sure you read all the way down.

Welcome, Jan!

WINW

My hobbies outside of writing are very homey and comforting, and may give the impression that I write inspirational or cozy novels—which I do not.  My series is paranormal with graphic elements, but at home I’m just a wife and mom. Family is the biggest part of my life outside of writing.  If I had to choose one hobby, gardening is at the top of my list.  Cooking is a close second.  I’m an artist as well, but that muse is finicky and doesn’t come to me often.

In the spring in summer months, if I’m not in my office writing, or spending time with my family, I’m either cooking, or in the garden.  After a long day at the computer, I’ll pour a glass of wine, turn on some soulful music, and walk around the flower and herb beds and let the characters in my head calm for the night.  This is my wind-down time.  I have an outdoor stereo system, and my family and neighbors have heard my playlist more than they probably care to.  (My kids hid the Matchbox Twenty and Joss Stone CD’s on me, but then I subscribed to a popular music service and have an endless supply of all my favorite songs.)

I do love to share, so I’ve included the playlist below, along with a tour of my garden, and a family recipe for blueberry muffins.

Enjoy,
Jan

JanDeLima_Garden2July is my favorite month in the garden. It’s when most of my climbers bloom along the fence.

This is Willow, my youngest English bulldog, standing under the Nesting Arbor.  Every year a robin makes a nest in the tangled vines around the arbor, even though it’s our most traveled gateway into the vegetable garden beyond. It’s beautiful when the wisteria is in bloom.

JanDeLima_Garden4Lobelia baskets add color to the shady parts of my garden, plus it’s a great place to hang the hummingbird feeders.

JanDeLima_Garden5Boil some sugar and water to fill the feeders for the hummingbirds.  Four parts water and one part pure cane sugar is a safe portion.  It’s tempting to add a bit more sugar to the mix, but it only forces the birds to look for water.

BUTTERMILK BLUEBERRY MUFFIN RECIPE

This is an old recipe that has been handed down in my family.  The secret to these muffins is to make sure all the ingredients are room temperature, as if the eggs were just gathered from under the hen, and the blueberries were just picked from warm summer fields. Also, and just as important, the wet and dry ingredients are barely stirred.  There should be lumps in the mix.

Ingredients:

- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of buttermilk
- 1/3 cup of sugar
- 1/3 cup of packed light brown sugar
- 5 tablespoons of melted butter
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- A pinch of cinnamon (1/8 of a teaspoon if you need to measure, no more or the spice will overwhelm. You can dip the tip of your 1/4th teaspoon if you don’t have a 1/8th.)
- a pinch of nutmeg
- 1 ½ to 2 cups of blueberries

Heat oven to 400 degrees and prep a muffin tin with wrappers. You can grease the tin but the papers are pretty and, more important, the tin is easier to wash afterward.  Whisk together all dry ingredients in a bowl except for the sugar.  In a separate bowl, whisk the wet ingredients along with the sugar.  Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet items into the well.  Mix only until the dry ingredients are barely moistened.  Ten turns of the spoon, if that.  There should be lumps in the mix.  Gently fold in the blueberries.   Bake for fifteen minutes, but start checking around ten by inserting a toothpick in the center.  They’re ready when the sides are golden brown and the toothpick comes out clean.

Makes 12 muffins

"When I'm not writing" with Cindy Thomas

Cindy Thomas

Cindy Thomas is a YA and NA author, and also a publicist for Spencer Hill Press.  Her newest book is the paranormal NA Beckon Me, which I just read and LOVED.  (You'll be able to read my full review on Thursday.)  Cindy's a busy woman, what with work and writing and "mom-ing," so I'm very grateful she was able to stop by and tell us more about what she's up to when she's not writing!

When I'm Not Writing Marie

There are a ton of things I should be doing when I’m not writing. Namely, cleaning my house, cooking, folding and putting away laundry. Did I mention the cleaning?

But since I’m a mother of three young boys who also happens to work from home as the Manager of Marketing and a senior publicist for Spencer Hill Press, there are a ton of things that just don’t get done. Seriously, you should see the three laundry baskets sitting right beside me that need folding right now. It’s kind of ridiculous.

If I’m not writing and organizing publicity for other authors, I’m usually seen at the local Tae Kwon Do gym with my two oldest boys. They go at least 4 times a week and we can be there anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours at a time. It makes our evenings pretty hectic, but I love seeing the smiles on their faces when they’re there and I know it’s helping them to build confidence in themselves. Those are some of the best parent moments ever.

I’m also the homeroom mom for my oldest son, so I spend quite a bit of time at the elementary school too. Most parents will know exactly what this entails, but for those who don’t, it’s mostly planning classroom parties, organizing gifts for the teachers, putting together baskets for prizes at the spring fair and pretty much all kinds of volunteer work at the school. It’s another one of those bonuses of being a stay at home parent that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

Lastly, diapers. I am pretty much always knee deep in diapers. With a yet-to-be-trained toddler running around the house, there is never a shortage of them needing to be changed. It’s my third go-round, so I’m pretty good at it by now, but it’s still kind of crazy to me just how many of those suckers we go through in a single week.

If there are only two things you take away from this post, I’m going to guess that those will be: 1. Cindy’s life is pretty busy & 2. Cindy’s life isn’t all that exciting.  You’d be right on both counts, but I hope you always take away this: There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t remember just how blessed I am.

Thank you for reading!

Here's the scoop on Beckon Me:

Beckon Me Cindy Thomas

Everything nineteen-year-old Karina Mitchell knows about death changes the instant that she and her best friend, Rainey, are shot. For one, souls don’t die. They cross over. Only, Rainey’s soul hasn’t, and her ghost is hell bent on haunting Karina.

When Karina begins her sophomore year of college and moves into the apartment that she was supposed to share with Rainey, she learns a few shocking truths from her mysterious and gorgeous blue-eyed neighbor, Eli.

One: Karina has been chosen to become a Beckoner—an immortal conduit of the dead who helps safely guide souls to the other side.

Two: She’s the reason that Rainey’s soul can’t cross over—Rainey followed her back from death and missed her window to be at peace.

Three: Eli is hot. As in swoon-worthy, to-die-for, will-make-you-forget-yourself hot. And it turns out, Eli is a Beckoner, too.

Despite her attraction to Eli, the decision to become a Beckoner isn’t an easy one—it would mean giving up her own mortality … her own soul. But if she doesn’t, her best friend will be left to suffer an eternity at the hands of the evil Ceptors, dark creatures that feed on the souls left behind. After all, it’s her fault Rainey is haunting her.

Time is running out, and Karina needs to decide: Are love and loyalty worth sacrificing her soul?
