All In by Amanda Carlson

Ginger and Luke are tracking her brother Damien. She wants to rescues him; he is tasked to bring him back to face justice. The chase started smoothly, but a lot more then they were expecting happened on the way.

All in is the third installment of the series written by Amanda Carlson and I loved it just as much as the previous ones. I like that even though it's a series of novella, the stories are long enough to really get involved into the characters. The fact that we've met Ginger and Luke in the previous book(s) also added a kinship feeling in the mix and made their budding relationship more believable.

Ginger is a smart woman that has been dedicated to rescuing her brother for years. I really appreciated this side of her, but she's also a self-loathing succubus and I felt bad for her. Her conscience and her desire to not 'parasite' anyone will lead her to extremes and it was quite a roller-coaster ride to witness. Luke is down-right amazing. He is sweet, caring, perceptive, but also strong and fierce. The perfect mix if you ask me!

I truly enjoying the developing romance between those two and their raw feelings felt real. One of my favorite moment was how Ginger described nature to Luke to try and include him in her world, make him see the way she saw things. It was quite endearing.

The plot was quite satisfying even though there isn't much room for twist and turns in a 150 pages long book. The conclusion was spot on and I have a feeling the next novella by Amanda will be about Raoul and a new Elemental girl. I can't wait to read what's next!

Sin City Collectors is a great series! I always enjoy a novella once in a while when you don't quite feel like committing to a full length novel. I mean, who doesn't enjoy a bit of instant gratification once in a while :)

SUCCUBI ARE FOREVER

Tasked by the Archangel Gabriel, Jackie Brighton must find two more lost archangel halos before she's free of her deal. But she's not the only one hunting for the immense power the halos bring, and everyone around her has motives - succubi, serim, and vampire. It's a race to the finish line, and only one person is going to come out on top.

But will Jackie stand tall when even her allies are set to betray her? Noah Gideon is back, and he's never liked taking 'no' for an answer. The mysterious assassin Sophie is helping out, but Sophie has her own agenda. So does Jackie's newest rival, the ancient hetaera Phryne, who wants to use the halos to give a new world to succubi everywhere - one that doesn't involve their masters.

Every immortal wants those halos, but Jackie's not sure they're worth her life, or Zane's freedom.

But she might not have a choice.

Reading the last book in a series I like always makes me nervous. I sometimes have a very specific idea of how the story should end and I’ve been known to hold off reading the final installment of a series for a ridiculous long time. However, when I noticed that the final installment of Jill Myles’s Succubi Diaries series was released, I didn’t hesitate to read it for a second.

Jackie’s story has been an adventurous, bumpy ride, full of love, heartbreak and steamy sex and it finds a very fitting and satisfying conclusion in Succubi Are Forever.

All of the characters have evolved a lot since the beginning of the series and Zane has been one my favorite heroes ever. What he is and was willing to endure for Jackie proves how deep his feelings for Jackie are. Right from the beginning, I’ve always rooted for the two of them as a couple and there was one moment of shock in the book that really made me doubt the possibility of a HEA for the two of them. Still, by that very story twist, Jill Myles kept the tension up right to the end of the book.

All in all, Succubi Are Forever reminded me again why I will miss this series so much. A cast of likeable and funny characters for one. Remy, Jackie’s best friend and fellow succubus never fail to brightened the mood and make you laugh. One highlight of this book: the citations for Remy’s memoir(s). In one word: hilarious. I also adore her and Ethan’s relationship. Ethan’s naiveté makes him incredibly endearing.

I’m glad that the love triangle is off the table by now and the romance is only focused on Zane and Jackie. I already mentioned that I love him, but I can’t stress it enough. He has developed from a slightly arrogant vampire to someone who is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the one he loves. But not only Zane is willing to go to great lengths for their relationship, Jackie also shows how important the relationship is for her. Jill Myles ups the stakes in this book for the two of them and puts her characters in a position where they are forced to make an impossible decision. The heartbreak, pain and shock that ensues doesn’t just affect the characters, but also made me feel for them while reading. The love scenes were very steamy and raised the heat level in the room considerably. Zane gives a whole new meaning to the word love bites! :)

The search for the halos is exciting, the setbacks created tension and kept me very engaged in the story. The addition of new characters breathes new life into the story and the antagonists in this book are a group I wouldn’t mind to learn more about.

Finishing Succubi Are Forever was a bittersweet experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I’m very pleased with the ending. In a way, the end is positive or at least conciliatory for each character. However, it made me sad to have to say goodbye to a bunch of characters I’ve grown to love over the years. Still, I am very thankful that I, at least, got the chance to get closure for Jackie and her friends. If there should ever be any new story set in this universe, I’ll be among the first to read it.

I rarely recommend books and if so, only the ones I’m 100% sure about. If you like light, funny and sexy urban fantasy with loveable characters and an engaging story, I wholeheartedly recommend this series.

Daring You To Read… Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead

0daringyou_thumb[2]

Daring You To Read is a weekly feature here on Tynga’s Reviews where we dare you to read some of our favorite older releases (at least 6 months old). All the books/series we choose to feature are titles we adored and think you should give them a shot! We think it’s a super awesome way to discover that special book who might have slipped off your radar!

You’ve already read the book? Let’s us know what you thought!

Have a dare of your own? Leave a comment ^^

This week I decided to dare you to read an awesome series by one of my favorite author, the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead. The series starts with Succubus Blues and it’s a 6 books series. Luckily for you, the last book in the series, Succubus Revealed was released last summer, so you won’t have to wait between each installment!

The series is about a succubus who sold her soul to escape her past. As part of the deal, she has to pray on humans, draining their life force through sexual means. Surprisingly, the series isn't overly sexual, it’s actually almost chaste for an adult series. Georgina is surrounded by 2 vampires, an imp, a demon (her boss) and an angel (who liked to hang out with them for god knows why) and a bunch of humans, unaware of the supernatural world. Georgina has a conscience though and only preys on shady men, to her boss’ dismay. Her life will get complicated though when she falls in love with a human because any sexual encounter she has with him could substantially reduce his life spawn.

Georgina is fabulous, funny, smart, determined and generally made of awesome. She’ll do anything to protect the ones she loves, risking her own life multiple times during the course of this series. Each novel, and the series as a whole, is quite a rollercoaster ride, sometimes leaving you frustrated, sometimes laughing to tears and other times crying your eyes out. I loved every page of those six novels and even though the end was satisfying, I’m really sad the series is over.

I am inviting you to give this amazing series a try, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! Also, they are re-releasing the book in mass market edition with pretty, new covers!

More about Succubus Blues:

Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1)

Succubus (n.) An alluring, shape-shifting demon who seduces and pleasures mortal men. Pathetic (adj.) A succubus with great shoes and no social life. See: Georgina Kincaid.

When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?

But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid's life is far less exotic. Her boss is a middle-management demon with a thing for John Cusack movies. Her immortal best friends haven't stopped teasing her about the time she shape-shifted into the Demon Goddess getup complete with whip and wings. And she can't have a decent date without sucking away part of the guy's life. At least there's her day job at a local bookstore--free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can't.

But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle's demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won't help because Georgina's about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny...

Georgina Kincaid has had an eternity to figure out the opposite sex, but sometimes they still surprise her. Take Seth Mortensen. The man has risked his soul to become Georgina's boyfriend. Still, with Lucifer for a boss, Georgina can't just hang up her killer heels and settle down to domestic bliss. In fact, she's being forced to transfer operations...to Las Vegas.

The City of Sin is a dream gig for a succubus, but Georgina's allies are suspicious. Why are the powers-that-be so eager to get her away from Seattle—-and from Seth? Georgina is one of Hell's most valuable assets, but if there's any way out of the succubus business she plans to take it--no matter how much roadkill she leaves behind. She just hopes the casualties won’t include the one man she’s risking everything for...

Georgina’s been through a lot since Succubus Blues, the first book in the series, and after overcoming a lot of obstacles, she’s finally able to live her relationship with Seth, while keeping an healthy balance in her life… or so she thinks. Hell have different plans and Georgina will be transferred to Las Vegas by the end of the month unless she can identify the reason behind this hasty decision.

Succubus Revealed is the final book in the series and even though I’m really sad to say goodbye to those amazing characters, I feel really satisfied with how everything wrapped-up. A lot of the questions nagging us for a long time will be answered: Why Georgie & Seth have such a hard time making their relationship work? Why Carter acts the way he does? What’s wrong with Georgie’s contract? It was quite an emotional rollercoaster and I shed tears, both from joy and sadness. One of the moments I found particularly touching was when Carter pretended to be Santa Claus and visited the Mortensen girls. It was beyond amazing.

Facts that will shed a new light on many past events will be revealed and when I finished reading I felt this urge to read the whole series from the start, to relive the story from a new perspective.

Richelle Mead usually offers action-packed books and you might be surprised to not find a single battle in Succubus Revealed. All the fights are on the intellectual and emotional plan, but will leave you breathless nonetheless.

Carter and his laidback attitude and cryptic advices has always been my favorite character and after this novel I have to say I love him even more, if such a thing is even possible. I find myself praying that Richelle will write a short story about him, or maybe a spin-off series, wouldn’t it be awesome to see Heaven’s side of this world? Succubus Revealed gives answers about the Angel’s motives, but I still want more! Can’t get enough of the guy! I also have to mention Roman who was really awesome once again. Bowling coach and devil’s advocate, he will get a unique chance to shine in this final encounter.

If you haven’t read this series yet, I strongly recommend you do so because it’s the amazing story of a succubus with a conscience, looking for Love and challenging Hell on a daily basis with her generosity and her desire to do the right thing all the time. I will really miss her and her merry gang of friends.

Here are two funny, spoilers-free quotes:

*drawing for secret Santa gifts*

He hurried to the kitchen and returned with a ceramic cookie jar shaped like a snowman. He trust it toward me. “Draw. Whatever name you get is who you’re buying for, so don’t try to get out of it.”

I drew a piece of paper and opened it up. Georgina.

“I can’t-”

Peter held up a hand to silence me. “You drew the name. That’s who you’ve got. No arguments.”

His stern look stopped me from any more protests. “Well,” I pointed out pragmatically, “at least I have a few ideas.”

I gave Carter a once-over. “Have you ever wanted to put on a Santa suit?”

“I have always wanted to do that,” said Carter gravely.

Roman groaned.

Succubus Heat - Richelle Mead

"Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus...
…which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, she’s been so wicked that Seattle’s über-demon Jerome, decides to “outsource” Georgina to a rival—and have her spy for him in the process.

Being exiled to the frozen north—okay, Vancouver—and leaving Seth in the cozy clutches of his new girlfriend is unpleasant enough. Then Jerome is kidnapped, and all immortals under his control mysteriously lose their powers. One bright spot: with her life-sucking ability gone, there’s nothing to keep Georgina from getting down and dirty with Seth—nothing apart from his girlfriend that is. Now, as the supernatural population starts turning on itself, a newly mortal Georgina must rescue her boss and figure out who’s been playing them—or all hell will break loose…" -Book cover

After Seth broke up with her, Georgie went all out feeding like crazy at any men running into her. Even thought she's paying more then her deed to her boss, her extreme bad mood gets her in trouble and she ends up working for another demon in Canada.
Cruising back and forth between Seattle and Vancouver, trying to control a crazy group of devil preachers, start to gets on her nerves.
One morning our lovely Succubi wakes up with her 2 vampire buddies at her place: Vampires? in the sun? not toasting? Georgina slowly discover all of her powers are gone. Result of Jerome Disappearance.
It seems like everyone is too busy enjoying the sun or plotting to be a next archdemon to bother try and find Jerome so Georgina work her ass off trying to find him with little help from her new boyfriend Dante.

The fact that Georgina became mortal was a very big part of the whole novel. The way she was scared to death walking the streets knowing she could die was just stunning and the lack of evil power inducted a new side to her relationship with Seth.
The book was totally amazing as a whole. I couldn't put it down and read it all in 1 day. The end was great! I can't wait to put my hands on the fifth book.
GO Richelle Mead GO.
Best author, hands down!

Succubus Dreams - Richelle Mead

"Some days, a girl just can't catch a break...
…especially when the girl in question is Georgina Kincaid, a shape-shifting succubus who gets her energy from seducing men. First there’s her relationship with gorgeous bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, which is unsatisfying on a number of levels. It’s not just that they can’t have sex in case Georgina inadvertently kills him (generally a turn-off for most guys). Lately, even spending time together is a challenge. Seth's obsessed with finishing his latest novel, and Georgina's under demonic orders to mentor the new (and surprisingly inept) succubus on the block.

Then there are the dreams. Someone, or something, is preying on Georgina at night, draining her energy, and supplying eerie visions of her future. Georgina seeks answers from Dante, a dream interpreter with ties to the underworld, but his flirtatious charm only leaves her more confused—especially as the situation with Seth reaches crisis point. Now Georgina faces a double challenge—rein in her out-of-control love life, and go toe-to-toe with an enemy capable of wreaking serious havoc among mankind. Otherwise, Georgina, and the entire mortal world, may never sleep easy again…" -Book cover.

Georgie keeps cruising Seattle streets with some new challenges at hands. She's got to mentor one epic failure succubus brought in town by the imp who bought her soul. Makes our succubi mad out of her mind and he keeps poking here and there trying to make her life miserable and she can't figure out why.

Babysitting the ridiculous succubi isn't enough of a burden, Geogina can't seem to sleep safely. Something is feeding on her overnight, while she dreams of a nice impossible future.

Her relationship with Seth isn't getting easier and it's gonna take a very interesting twist in that novel!

Like all of Richelle Mead books I really enjoyed that one. Georgina is so awesome, you'd just want a girl like take to be your friend, demon job aside. She's gonna live thought some major loss in the book and you can't help but feel for her. I was left stunned at the end of the book. I just couldn't believe it.

Succubus on top - Richelle Mead

"Love hurts, and no one knows it better than Georgina Kincaid. If she so much as kisses Seth Mortensen, the shy, sexy, incredibly gifted Seattle writer she's been dating, she'll drain his life force. Georgina is a succubus - a demon who draws her power from other men's pleasure. Admittedly, the shapeshifting and immortality perks are terrific, and yes, Georgina did choose to join the ranks of hell centuries ago. But it seems completely unfair that a she-demon whose purpose is seduction can't get hot and heavy with the one mortal who knows and accepts her for who she is...It's not just her personal life that's in chaos. Doug, Georgina's co-worker at a local bookstore, has been exhibiting bizarre behaviour, and Georgina suspects that something far more demonic than double espressos is at work. She could use help finding out, but Bastien, an irresistibly charming incubus and her best immortal friend, is preoccupied with corrupting an ultra-conservative talk radio star - and giving Georgina some highly distracting come-hither vibes. Georgina is going to have to work solo on this one - and fast because soon, Doug's life won't be the only one on the line... " - Book Cover

Second book of the series, Succubus on top, was as addictive as the first one. Our lovely Georgie has her hands in multiple pies in the novel which may lead her into trouble.
Seth and her are in a growing relationship where touching and kissing is a big no-no but our lady still got to have sex with men to stay alive which may cause some trouble in heaven.
Not only that, but a old friend - literally - gets on the scene. Bastien, an incubus, comes in Seattle on his big horses with a mission to save his ass. He tasted the forbidden fruit and got to amend for it by seducing a high profile conservative radio hostess but it promise to not be that easy.
Like it wasn't enough Doug (Georgina's co-worker) got himself in trouble and our golden heart succubus will do all she can to get him out of it at the risk of her own life.

As series progress you get more and more found of Georgina and really hope that she can get that love life she deserve, Seth may or may not be the answer. Personally I'm not a big fan of Seth, but after reading forums and what not many woman falls for his shy and so comprehensive personality.

If you liked the first book you definitely wanna buy this one!

" - Book Cover.

First of all, the book isn't what it may seem from first impression; it is not a novel full of extremely erotic sex scenes (even though there's 2 good ones).

Succubus blues is Richelle Mead's debut novel and let me tell you it is one fine debut! I read this book a few months ago, so I had to chance to read the first 3 books back-to-back and I had a very hard time to put them down.

Georgina has been "reborn" in ancient Greece and after centuries of seducing mortals and sucking their life energy she's kind of blaze. Working as an assistant manager in a book store and navigate through eternity dreaming of love, romance and kids. None of which is possible due to her deal with hell.

Mead built a world where hell is an administrative business, and Georgina is at the bottom of the food chain. Her 2 vampires buddies, an imp and her are the mains demons under Jerome (arch-demon with Johhn Cusack fantasies) control, who is more then friendly with a local angel, Carter.

Trouble starts when some immortals are found heavily beaten up or simply dead and heaven and hell rallies their fire power to eliminate the menace.

As mentioned before the novel isn't really action based (the end is one hell of an ending tho!), you cruise along with Georgina's trouble in her love life, or should I say lack of, you really come to love Mead's characters and feel for them. Kinkaid is one snappy little bitch when she wants to and what could be a very depressing situation turns out to be funny thanks to her sense of humor.
