So, this week I've been a bit preoccupied but, I still managed to make a few acquisitions. This time has been more about retro and returning to check in on old friends.
I have been a fan of C. S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series and was fortunate enough to find one of the books from his Cosmic series on sale. It was Perelandra, the second book, that was on sale so, I wound up buying the first book, Out of the Silent Planet, at full price. I'm sure that wasn't planned.
I also found the Kitty Goes to Washington by Carrie Vaughn on sale. Fortunately, I already had book 1 of that series.
The above picture is what has had me occupied this week. That is my right foot and, yes, those are screws and a metal plate. Before anyone asks how......I'll just say: Stupid is as stupid does.
Now that you have my undivided attention, please, tell me what feats of literature, fictitious or for-real, made it to your shelves?
Oh my! My dad has the same thing in his ankle which he broke a few years back. >.< Wishing you a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteOuch! I hope that you have a speedy recovery. I can definitely understand how you were preoccupied. Enjoy your new books as you recover.
ReplyDeleteOh no!! That looks ouchie! Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteHope you are recovering well. Sorry your week had some unexpected events -- maybe you'll have more reading time for a while?
ReplyDeleteOh wow... I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteOuch that looks painful well at least you have some great books to keep you company while you recoup get well soon
ReplyDeleteYikes! Thanks for sharing...LOL.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books, and try not to break anything else...I am curious about Kitty Goes to Washington.
Wow, that looks very painful. Here's hoping that you get to read while you're laid up.
ReplyDeleteHope you heal soon. I once injured myself severely by tripping over a vacuum cord, so I get what you mean by no need to ask how.
ReplyDeleteI liked the first Kitty book (Kitty and the Midnight Hour)so, I have high hopes for this one. The series starts off with some good character growth and I'm hoping it continues.
ReplyDeleteThank, BookCupid. I've repeated the story and outcome so much, I feel like I should just have a signed printed and wear around my neck.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you all for your kind wishes. It actually looks worse than it feels at this point. I've some reading and hope to maybe do a bit of writing and editing while I'm stuck on my backside.
ReplyDeleteWow, Robert! I hope your foot feels better soon. I honestly didn't know C.S.Lewis wrote anything other than the Narnia series. I will need to check it out. Read some of your books to take your mind off of your foot, and try to have a good week.
ReplyDeleteHoly moly! How is that even possible? Well, at least you have books to keep you occupied while you heal.

The first time I saw the images the first thing that came to mind was that I took a misstep in Home Depot :)
ReplyDeleteOh man. You must have been in real pain. Sometimes we do stupid things and pay the consequences big time. Rest and take the time to heal.

Nice reads!! I like the Kitty Norville series! I still need to read the last two books in that series myself!! And ow! What happened there? I know I've had some surgeries over my childhood and have screws and rods and all sorts of metal in me. I still flinch just the tiniest bit when going through a metal detector because I always wonder if it will go off on me! LOL! Hope all is okay now for you!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!!
Old Follower :)
I hurt just looking at your foot pic. :-(
ReplyDeleteCan't stop looking at your foot and wondering about that story...
ReplyDeleteI also loved the Narnia series, used to read it over and over as a kid. Didn't know about this other series, will have to see what I can find. And OW!!! That picture looks painful!
ReplyDeleteI ought to make up something really cool. Lots of action, explosions and some rad martial arts moves. Truth is, I was slamming on the brakes of my car😡
ReplyDeleteWow, Thanks for sharing. It is impressive that those items got embedded into your foot for that action.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what doctors have to put in to fix what was mainly a soft tissue problem.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, I don't travel much :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely makes a cool picture. You should frame it :-)
