Baby news anyone?

There wasn’t any baby update post since my last ultrasound in December, and since I got my new ultrasound just yesterday, I thought it was time for an update =D

This around wasn’t as painful as the previous ultrasound, thank god, but still uncomfortable because my belly and groin have been hurting lately, but hey nothing the poor girl can do about it.

We spent about an hour in the room because the girl was in training and someone else was supervising her, and the whole time the baby’s position was problematic. And once again wouldn’t show us his/her sex! I was really disappointed by then, but after waiting another 30min for the radiologist to come, baby –finally- opened her legs for 2 sec and allowed us a glimpse.

Yes, it’s official, it’s a girl! *squeee*

You can see her eyes and nose on the 1st shot, then her nose and lips on the 2nd and her profile on the third.
The technician told us all babies this age have Angelina Jolie lips, so she should change a bit ^^

Hubby and I already had a girl’s name in mind, but we are still debating on how to spell it lol

My choices: Lily-Ann or Liliane, his choices: Lilyanne or Lily-Anne. I’ll let you know when we settle the debate LOL

At the last U/S they said there might be a problem with her kidney, and turns out everything is fine now :) Unfortunately, it wasn’t all good news. Our baby girl is presenting herself feet/seat first as we speak, and I’m at 32 weeks. I have a really small belly for being this far into my pregnancy and I’m scared Lily might not have enough room to flip upside-down. I know some babies flip in the last week of pregnancy so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

If you’ve had baby before, when did yours turn over? Did you have any tricks I could try at home to help her flip? I’m meeting my doctor tomorrow, so hopefully she’ll have some advice for me.

-------------

Now, I also had my baby shower last Saturday and I thought I’d show you the gifts I received, and a glimpse of what the baby’s rooms looks like so far. There’s no shot of the entire room, because it used to be our office and it’s still a mess.

First, here's my family and friends who were able to come ^^
My friends are on the left, followed by my dad, mom, uncle, my sister & her boyfriend.

family

My mom built a diaper cake with toys, bottles, and a whole lot of useful stuff in it. Here’s a picture of it, and my reaction when I saw it ^^

My parents already gave me tons of stuff, it’s insane and at the shower they gave me more items still.

Including diapers, wet cloths, soap & baby cream and this super cute snuggle for the car seat.

snuggy

My sister & her bf offered me a anti-odor trash bin for the used diapers, I’m sure I’ll find it super handy!

trashbin

My friends offered me a common gift, which included:

diaper-baggirafe

The giraffe is the gift, but the bureau is part of Lily’s room

monitorbook

I have a small apartment, but monitor is always handy and baby’s first book!

This is one of the gift bags I received and it’s so cute I’m thinking of framing it for the baby’s room!

Now onto the baby’s room!

Here’s the crib and overcoat

baby cribovercoat

I also have the cutest mobile, but it doesn’t fit to my crib!! I don’t know what I’ll do =/mobile

This overcoat will be used in the play-park:

And last is the chair I’ll use for breast-feeding. As you can see, someone already established residency there…

I already had tons of baby cloths, but they are all for boys as we initially were told our baby was a boy, so I’m hoping some relatives have baby girls cloths they’ll want to get rid of lol I’ll be able to use some stuff I already have but there’s so much blue in the lot LOL.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the update ^^

  1. Congrats Tynga! The baby shower looks like it was a tons of fun and that is a cute diaper cake. Hmmm, I don't spy a bookcase in the baby room yet ;)

I've never had a baby before and wish you all the best in motherhood.

    2. P.S. I love these bookcases for kids since you get to show off all the pretty covers (and kids are probably attracted to the books this way too!) They are pretty expensive, on this website but I'm sure you can find them elsewhere too...

  2. Very cute baby room so far! I'm glad you had fun at your shower. A lot of neat stuff you got.

Personally, my favorite way of spelling is Liliane. Good luck getting your way!

Hopefully the baby will flip soon. I'm sure your doctor will have all that information tomorrow.

Daddy's Little Girl and Mommy's Little Princess is almost ready to join the world! <3
And can I just say you look freaking FANTASTIC?!?! I hope I'm as tiny as you when we start our family! You look over the moon happy- and the pictures from your baby shower and the gifts are lovely <3
I don't know anything about flipping a baby though... All 4 of us were delivered C-Sec because we were stuck.

    1. Thank you so much Amanda <3 I took 25 pounds so far, so I'm expecting maybe 10 or 15 more until the end =)
I'm hoping I'll be able to avoid C-sec, I'd really like a natural delivery, but i'm gonna have to deal with if it comes to that hehe

  5. In a former life I was an L&D nurse. Some babies just don't want to turn around. Your Dr can try a version (a manual procedure to try to get the baby to turn) at around 37 weeks, but then you want to deliver soon after as the baby has a tendency to want to turn right back around.

The only other thing I can recommend is to spend some time on all fours with your head down and your butt up (you can do prop your lower body up on pillows to help support you). Once you are in that position, stay there for 15 or 20 minutes and rock your pelvis. At 32 weeks, there isn't much room in there, so you are trying to get the baby to move around a bit more. Hopefully, in the course of moving around, she will flip enough to get her head engaged in the lower pelvis where you want it. You want to do this 2 or 3 times a day if you can. Good luck with it!

    1. Thanks JenM! I'm gonna try that! I heard the version is also extremly painful for the mom so I'd rather avoid that if possible.

  9. I am so happy to hear that all is well with your little girl. Thank you so much for sharing your happiness with us.
My boys never did turn. My first was never coming out as far as he was concerned. He was 10 months (I knew exactly when I got preg) before a failed a stress test and we removed him. The next one was going down the same path so he was taken too.

    1. 10 months? wow they don,t wait that long now a day. If you reach 41 weeks they provoque you

    2. Technically a pregnancy is 10 months (4 weeks in a month, pregnancy is 40 weeks, you get 10 months). But you're right, they'll induce at 41 weeks if she doesn't come on her own :)

    3. I've been hearing that doctors will wait until you're two weeks past your due date before inducing; but that may also be doctor preference.

    4. It depends on the doctor and the country. Remember I'm from Quebec so we might have different policies.

  10. So glad to hear the good news part. I didn't have any problems with my pregnancy so can't help much there, but I'm sure you're doctor will give good advice.

  13. I wish I could remember which ultrasound it was but it was one I had towards the end and the baby was breech. (I had so many ultrasounds because my pregnancy was high risk.) But she flipped. I did try one yoga pose (you can google it) but I couldn't tell you if that's what made her turn or if she turned on her own. Glad everything's looking good!

My aunt was a midwife for a long time. Do you want me to ask her RE: tips about getting the baby to flip?

    1. Hi Jess! I just saw my doc this morning and she suggested the same pose JenM suggested, she also gave me the contact info of an acupuncturist. But please Ask your aunt, maybe she as some other tricks =)
      Thank you!

  17. Congrats Tynga! Beautiful little girl :) Don't stress too much about being small. I only gained 30 pounds with my first son (the doctor was actually telling me to eat more cheesburgers.. LOL) and he weighed 7.5 pounds when he was born and was just fine. As far as getting her to turn, I don't have any tips, but I can tell you that my first boy was face up (instead of face down like he needed to be for delivery) until the last hour of labor. He rolled over when he was ready and delivery went fine. I'm sure everything will turn out great and congratulations again!

    Congrats !!

  20. Congratulations, girl! I had the same problem that you are having with the baby not turning. I'm a small lady, and I thought my daughter wouldn't have much room to maneuver. (I had only gained 15 pounds by 32 weeks.) Thankfully, she turned around the 34-35 week mark. I'm sure you will have the same luck. Gravity can be our friend at times. :-)

I hope the remainder of your pregnancy is as comfortable as possible and you have an uncomplicated delivery! Good luck!
