Ready, Set, Go! Fantastic Fables: Paranormal Edition, The Master List!

**Scroll down for a list of all events**

RRHfinal

Hello My Darlings!

I am really excited to finally launch the Fantastic Fables: Paranormal Edition!

August will be a month to remember! With more than 70 featured authors, you will have a handful full of amazing stories and giveaways.

We’ve secured an amazing lineup of authors for the event and challenged them to take our favorite characters and immerse them in a well known fable, story, Disney movie, etc. How would it affect their world? What would their character do? For example, What if their character had been the Little Red Riding Hood?

This will be a great opportunity to see the characters you love in completely new ways and meet a few new ones who you’ll want to follow back to their own stories.

Starting tomorrow and until August 31st Angela from Dark Faerie Tales and myself will present you the most fabulous authors releasing paranormal books this summer! So stay tuned for a bunch of treats!

I would also suggest you to show some love to all these very generous authors who made some room in their schedule to work with us and make this event possible.
Commenting on their fables is greatly appreciated!

To make sure you don’t miss anything, I will keep a master sheet of all Fantastic Fables & Giveaways, including shipping restrictions (see at the end of this post)!

Here are some key guidelines you might keep in mind thorough the event.

-No limit on the number of unique giveaways you can win: You could potentially win a giveaway from each day. We won’t limit the number of giveaways each person can win.

-No requirements to enter giveaways: Although we greatly appreciate you following/subscribing to Dark Faerie Tales & Tynga’s Reviews, you aren’t required to in order to enter any of the giveaways.

-Read Shipping Restrictions Carefully: Some are US only, Canada only, other US/Canada, other International. Please pay attention before you enter =)

-Giveaways end on September 7th:  All the giveaways for FF starts on the day they are posted and end on September 7th.  All the winners will be announced on the blog on September 9th, make sure you come back to see if you won.

-One extra entry:  To have maximum exposure for our guests, we made it possible to earn one extra entry (not mandatory) for each giveaway by spreading the word. Put those twitter & facebook accounts to work!

Insane promotion for my Canadian friends!

Fiction Sale!

I think the logo says it all, Book Closeout.ca is having an INSANE sell right now. Books that were already cheap are now even cheaper and I honestly went overboard and ordered…. 29 books o.O

Yeah I know, I wasn’t very reasonable, but they were all so cheap! And I’m talking 2-3$ per book. There are some hardcover, but I mostly bought MM ^^ I also got my hands on a Hardcover of Hex Hall which I couldn’t find anywhere. And those are all brand new books of course.

If you’re not picky about book condition, they also have scratch and dent discount prices.

It’s the first time I order from them even though I’ve know them for a while. What stopped me before? Shipping price. But I was happily surprised today because the shipping for my 29 books was as low as 10$! I mean c’mon! So I spent 85$ including shipping and taxes so a very nice lot of shinnies!

Wanna know what I bought?

Series: Alex Craft #1

Reviewed by: Tynga

Purchase: Amazon | Book Depository

Grave witch Alex Craft can speak to the dead, but that doesn’t mean she likes what they have to say . . .

As a private investigator and consultant for the police, Alex Craft has seen a lot of dark magic. But even though she’s on good terms with Death himself—who happens to look fantastic in a pair of jeans—nothing has prepared her for her latest case. Alex is investigating a high profile murder when she’s attacked by the ‘shade’ she’s raising, which should be impossible. To top off her day, someone makes a serious attempt on her life, but Death saves her. Guess he likes having her around . . .

To solve this case Alex will have to team up with tough homicide detective Falin Andrews. Falin seems to be hiding something—though it’s certainly not his dislike of Alex—but Alex knows she needs his help to navigate the tangled webs of mortal and paranormal politics, and to track down a killer wielding a magic so malevolent, it may cost Alex her life . . . and her soul.

Disowned by her father whom went to extreme length to completely erase her from the family three, Alex Craft is trying her best to earn some money to put food on the table – and in her dog’s bowl. She’s a grave witch, raising the deceased’s shadows for money. Mostly hired by families in need of closure, she’s also sometimes hired by the police to help their investigations. This latest part of the gig  is proving to be more dangerous than Alex initially anticipated – trust me, multiple attempt on one’s life isn’t usual, even for a witch.

Kalayna Price set an awesome open world (e.g. things that goes bump in the night are out of the closest) and blessed us with an extremely refreshing Lore. I would qualify the Lore as multilayered. First, you have the Fey, with classical lore and magic, then you have Ghosts in the traditional sense, but on top of it, you also have Witches, each with a different affinity (this is the interesting lore part), and Shades, an echo of a person’s memory. Can’t forget about the Reapers either, especially since  there is a really hawt one, blinking in and out of Alex’s life at opportune moments.

Now add to this magical shebang a series of gruesome murders, secret politics and a steaming hot cop and you have a rather interesting recipe for an action-packed novel. Tight and fast-paced, Grave Witch’s plot will really engross you. Don’t be surprise if your heart tries to beat it’s way out of your chest from excitement, you should consider yourself warned. You might also find yourself suffering from tachycardia (to keep with the heart’s metaphor!) while witnessing some rather steamy scenes. I have a specific moment in mind when Alex is having sex while blind (a side effect of her grave sight), and let me tell you, the temperature in the room must’ve been boiling hot.

I found myself falling in love with two males in this series. Falin, a grouchy bonehead cop with good looks and multiple surprises in his pocket. I specifically liked his continued banter with Alex – entertaining dialogue guarantied. Death, a reaper, also stole my heart. He is the sweetest thing and would be the perfect boyfriend if you simply ignore the tiny fact that he is dead… and collect souls as a living. The personality of each character shone light and bright in an otherwise dark and gloomy setting, holding my attention the whole novel.

The conclusion was satisfying if not surprising. Alex Craft did a very good investigating job, and kept us in the loop pretty much every step of the way, so the bad guy wasn’t a surprise. The set up for the final battle though was really interesting and I like every suspenseful second of it. Even though the culprit wasn’t a shocker other lovely tidbits of information were revealed at the end, and I can’t wait to see where the sequel, Grave Dance, will take us from there.

One Grave At A Time Trailer & first three chapters!

Jeaniene Frost just revealed the trailer for the upcoming Cat & Bones book and I think it’s down right awesome!

I’m a HUGE fan of the Night Huntress series and its spin-off and I already pre-ordered my copy of One Grave At A Time weeks ago! I truly can’t wait to get my hands on my copy *squee*

Also, it’s to much teasing for me so I haven’t read them, but the first three chapters of the book are now available. You can read them here.

The grave is one wrong step away.
Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans' voodoo queen just keeps on giving--leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.
Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity--forever. But how do you kill a killer who's already long dead?

Pre-order: Amazon | Book Depository (only 5,89$!)
